Question for great merchant related luxuries

For luxuries generated by great merchants, like toys, perfume, etc, if you lose out on those GM does it mean that you lose out on those luxuries for the rest of the game ? Or can you simply take that civ’s capital and gain access to them ? Asking for my friend Moctezuma...

You can receive those luxuries by trading with the civ that has them. I don't think you get obtain them by conquering another civ.

one does not gain the abilities great people bestowed on someone else.
The ability to manufacture lipstick was lost when you bombed that factory you thought military units were in but was a temporary hospital made from a cosmetic company.

I personally do not see why an industrial estate cannot manufacture such luxuries.
