I was totally shocked to learn that Obama's favorite band is Fall Out Boy. I also liked the emo self-portrait.
That said....
I think the real benefit of this thread is it helps demonstrate why birther's are lunatics. There is no rational answer that will make them happy.
What he have here is kind of the opposite of the "
million monkey shakespeare" theory. You know, give a million monkeys a typewriter and one will eventually write Shakespeare. In this case, if you have dozens of websites and dozens of staffers there will eventually be errors.
So, what are the simple and rational explanations:
1. Its not really Obama's official site. Now, I'm not sure what the rules are on myspace, but on facebook nothing stops me from calling myself Barack Obama or Brad Pitt or Crotchrot Johnson. I do think in their TOS they could require me to prove my identity if the "real" Obama, Pitt, or Johnson had an issue with me.
So, I looked at the myspace site and if its not really his, it's done very nicely. The only thing to me that's odd is that it looks like there've been no comments since March.
But, for sake of discussion, let's assume it an official site. That brings us to...
2. Its a simple data entry error. Someone put in the wrong birth date/age. That said, it is odd its never been fixed. Maybe its been abandoned since March? Is it logical, reasonable, or sensible to think that if there is some conspiracy to hide his "real" date of birth and/or birthday that something so silly would be overlooked? That given all the recent scrutiny, it wouldn't be fixed?
3. Lastly, OMG THEN WHY DOESN'T HE FIX IT???? I can think of a couple reasons:
Reason 1: If they did fix it, then the birthers would site the fixing of the erroneous age as further indication of a conspiracy (there's no winning when fighting the forces of irrationality).
Reason 2: They've done enough and don't care to spend any more time placating the birthers because they've realized nothing will satisfy the birthers and, per reason 1, all they do is feed the birther delusions by fixing it.
Reason 3: My personal fave: If it were me, I'd leave it there just to tweak the tweakers. In fact, I'd probably give a speech where if you isolated the first letter of every word of the speech it would spell out "I was born in Africa". Let's try:
"
I was
at
Senator
Boxer's
oratory
regarding
nullifying
immigrant
naturalizations.
Aside
from
real
innovations,
counter
applying existing law will not remedy the situation."
Yeah, not that good, but that took all of 5 minutes.

Then again, more lucid than some other politicians that come to mind...
At any rate, I do appreciate the thread as a reminder of the descent into madness that so many have taken. I'm starting to think its result of some kind of cognitive dissonance.
