Question: How to make an animation loop? (for a feature, like a forest)

So, how do I make an animation to loop? (for a feature, like a forest).

I've gotten the animation into the game, (without any bones and .KF files), and now I want it to loop.

I checked the coastal wave files, and they got a flag in the EXTRA DATA (I think it was) that says something like "-name wave -loop".

But I cant add that to my own nif file.

And I dont know what to do in 3D studio max or the nif viewer to get it to loop. (Sure it does loop when viewing the animation in those programs but not in the game).

And another question. How do I make a sprite? Or a flat polygon object that shows it's flat surface towards the camera at all times? Is this possible in the engine?
 
Bump.

I managed to do the thing I wanted to do in question #2, but Im still struggling with the Looping.

Im still not exactly sure what to do with question 2 either, I just stole a part of a nif file from a resource from some mod that worked like I wanted. I think it involves adding a camera target to the nif file though.

Yeah I haven't figured that out yet. Maybe you could check something out for me as I'm at work right now. Put a space elevator in a city and watch for couple of minutes (zoomed way in) and see if it loops its animation. I have a nagging suspicion that it doesn't in fact loop, which would mean that w/o bones there's no way to loop animations. :(
 
Sorry cant check that out right now, since I am at a library. (dont have internet connection at home)

But report if you get any closer to solving this.

Mine is an improvement, which means it's got animations using bones, just like units. I keep forgetting to check the space elevator, hopefully I won't tonight. :)
 
I havent really experiented anymore with this, but has anyone else? I would really want my planets in Interstellar Colonization to spin around their axis slowly but constantly (with clouds moving and all). And maybe some moons moving around some planets.
I would also want the surface of a star to animate with a loop.
 
Yeah, I tried again few days ago, no luck. :( There are couple of more things I want to try but without some help (hopefully from Firaxis) my hopes are slim.
 
Sepamu, if you read through it you notice its not looping and its not a feature or improvement (without bones).
