Question regarding recording software

Ok,so i've downloaded FFsplit since i wanted to record a LP,never used recording software until now,so i am new to this..I've made a few test runs,and something weird is happening since some videos have audio and others do not,and i do not seem to have tracked down the reason for this.I have tried changing setting from AAC to MP3 for audio,and it worked for one video,but on the next it did not,i had no sound.So my question would be ,what are the default settings i should be running?And how to fix this,as i do not intend to record an LP w/o sound,because i believe it is much more fun this way

I'm sorry for not being able to answer anything regarding FFsplit, but I wanted to tell you that in case you run in to a load of problems with it, I use OBS for recording and it's really nice and simple. (And free)

Sorry for not answering your question, but if you do happen to switch to OBS instead I'll be able to answer a whole lot of them =)
