If, possible how do I create an unit that changes appearence and animation with age?

Also, if possible, how do I create a unit that changes stats according to age?

I am trying to get my Militia unit mod with age changing features.

Heya,

I think it might be possible to change a unit's look through the ages of time, (this opinion is based on the Worker/Settler) I haven't tried it, so I can't give any hard tips about doing it. The best I could say to do is create a unit (ala any of the methods on the forums) based on the ancient/industrial/modern of the worker/settler design, then test it.

For ease in testing, create a .bic in the scenarios, edit all but 1 of the techs (in each era) to NOT NEEDED FOR ERA ADVANCE, drop all of the costs on the advances to 0, (for speed in testing) also you might wanna fool around with giving 'your' pet civ the 1 advance needed to get out of ancient, but take it away from everybody else (while keeping this Tech's cost HIGH) so you won't hafta suddenly worry about the zulu's coming in with armor on turn 7 :) (j/k)

create the unit in anicent, (at a low cost, just make it a dummy unit) then see if it changes,)

after I figger out why I can't get the #*(#&*$@ new(newly created) improvements to show up in the little window of 'what is being built' I'll see if I can test this out to find out if it even works, and report back.

I also haven't tested it, but micmc_atl_ga is most likely right. Not that with the changes they made with the patch things aren't complicated enough...lol.

But my main reason for posting:

micmc_atl_ga:

If I understand you properly, the cause of why you're improvements aren't showing up in the window is with large-buildings.pcx. When you click the big box the icons showing up in the slide-out menu are in small-buildings.pcx, but the one that shows up in the big box is large-buildings.pcx.

Gramphos' Civ3CopyTool (the latest versions, at least) handles both files automatically, so you might try using that if you don't already.

heya Plutarck,

(btw, great job on LWC btw, I got in about 2 hours after you posted, played one game with it, no problems, tho I had to cut it short (you'd think the power company would accept 'playing civ' as a reason for not paying them cuz I didn't wanna go to work, wouldn't you?)

Thanks I'll try the copytool, I hadn't tried the newest version, I was just using the edit-hack and adding stuff that way, which is a mondo waste of time sometimes, since most of the bells and whistles don't go along with the copy...thanks for the advice.
