i was thinking about the trade issue in civ 3 ... if u r next to say the romans and they r inbetween another civ, say the greeks and u r the zulus (romans r the piggies in the middle) ... none of u have ports or airports but r all connected by roads ...when u r at peace with them all can u trade with the greeks at all? ... and if u can ... what if u goto war with the romans ... can u still trade with the greeks? even if your merchants have to go through enemy teritory to trade?

Hmm, who knows? or at least until the game comes out. But either way wouldn't be so bad. Meaning in your example, the piggy romans are blocking your route to your trade destination. Well, that forms a problem. But solving it by Conjuring up plans by going around or by some other method seems fun to me. Nevertheless, if you could somehow establish trade even though blocked by unfriendly neighbors, it wouldn't be so bad, there are many more aspects of the game to look forward to, though without saying, the realistic jest of the game would suffer.

There won't be any caravan units so your "merchants" won't actually be going anywhere. The way I understand it, if you're at peace with both the Greeks and the Romans then you will get trade benefits from them as long as your city is linked to theirs by roads. If this road goes to a Roman city en route to a Greek one then all your trade will go to Rome. You will have to build (or wait for them to build) a bypass around the Roman city to benefit from trade with the Greeks as well. That's the end of the stick I've got, I don't know what anyone else thinks.

It seems basic, that if you want want to trade with Greeks, just ask for the communications.

And please write out words completely next time.
