so, I suspect we have 1 or 2 MA armies on the rubber. We have a set of MA on the airfield, along with a worker (so we can recreate the radar tower if we want.

Options for SCI:

1) Attack the army/ies on the ivory
2) Attack the MA/Mech stack on the hill that was once Ohka
3) Pull all units back into The Tower

An MA with a radar tower is 30 - a 4 strength MA army with mil academy (which they have) 28 - on open ground is 30.8.

I will assume the rest of their MA are on the hill that used to have Ohka.

An MA on a hill is 24 - a mech on a hill is 27. They'll have 4 mechs.

I think if they have 2 armies on the ivory, we can't take out either of them - we will need a LOT of modern armies to do that. If they have the 16 HP one, we can. if they have the 20 hp one, it will be tough. Bombing them might help some, but I doubt they have moved the carrier away, and jets suck at bombing.

Options for the assault on Cattauragus

I can do a recon, see if they've added anyone.

If we can kill the mech with bombs, we send 1 marine, 1 mech, 1 worker and 3 MA. We should get rubber back, probably won't get the ivory. or the airfield. They will likely send in reinforcements.

If we can't get the mech, I'd like to send 3 or 4 marines and the rest MA. We maybe should rush another transport to get reinforcements there, as well.

Rushing a transport seems to be a good idea - if we don't need it for Cattaraugus, we'll need them for assaulting a different rubber isle.

Other than that, the plan sounds good - but I'll defer to wiser military minds than mine

I'm a bit worried that SCI may fall since we sent so few units last turn. We definitely need to put all those units in The Tower, and probably reinforce with a dozen more through our new airport there. That's unless they pulled the main force out, of course.

That's why I'm wondering if we should assault something. I figure if we can kill some MA, things will be much safer.

We can have 14 or more mechs in The Tower pretty easily next turn.

Another thought would be to hold off a turn and continue to kill ships that show up, spend a turn without rubber, and set up an assault with 2 transports that takes over the entire island.

Is the team talked out? Or is silence acceptance? Or are we just hoping that the game picks up some speed again? These turns are taking a long time - should I run them differently?

I'm silent because I'm really not sure what the situation is. It seems like discussion can really only start once we get the save and see what Saber has done...

Believe me - I'm checking in here about 6 or 7 times a day to make sure that I dont' miss anything! I am not talked out... but I just don't have much to contribute just now.

I'm not talked out either. Just been away from the computer most of the day lately. Also, as peter says, we really need to see the save. I'm still all for making a stand on SCI if we have a chance up there. As for Cattaraugus, I'm not sure what our timing should be there.

:agree: I still check in regularly - but I really feel like I need to see the save before I can contribute much.

That's the best thing anyone could do for me - lots of screenshots when the save comes in! :hatsoff:

This clear...yance thing edition 3.0 might get discussion running again ;)

edit: At least no battle log from FREE... :)

What the others have said. No point spending all our talk on speculation. But I certainly check here several times a day... when I'm not sleeping of course. *yawn*

Interesting things:

All of SABER's force is back on the hill that once held Ohka, except the Marine army. I'm not sure how they got the Armies back - do armies use movement when they pillage?

The invasion force has moved away, which makes me think that SABER is looking to stay and just deny us rubber.

In other news...

There are no other SABER ships within range of our land. The southern stack has disappeared completely.

I also did a reconaissance of SABER's aluminum. It's the only one they have hooked up, though they do have others hooked up on former BABE land.

We don't have any pollution.

We have a transport in The Hideaway.

We can rush a transport in The Phoenix for 264 gold by rushing an arty and switching - this will allow us to set up a 2 transport ship chain to Cattaraugus with 4 marines and as many MA as we want, which should allow us to take over the entire island in one turn.

Or, we can run a 1 transport invasion this turn, but we cannot unload and move.

My thoughts are to run it next turn - take the chance that we won't be detected. I think we can take the island which will be a rude awakening for them.

wow - very interesting indeed!

Do we have any artillery we could airlift to Subcom Island? it'd be fun to pound that stack with artillery. :D
Not worth rushing units for probably.

I agree with waiting 1 turn for the invasion of Saber's island. there aren't any ships in range of our transport right now... they'd have to get awfully lucky to find us.
I think it's worth the gamble to take out the whole island in one fell swoop.

We should also probably let FREE know that a significant chunk of Saber's military is just sitting in our land, and that now would be a great time for an invasion! :mischief:

Why did we land 7 modern armors on the sci island? I don't need to be captain obovious, but if we attack the stack we will lose them all and if we go into the city we will lose them all. We should have stayed at home and saved whatever units we could have instead of throwing them away and we wasted money rushing an airport, bleh :( Lets send 2 MA home and sell the airport and accept that we are not masters of modern warfare, use the worker to build a radar tower on the airfield so they don't capture that and take control of the island forever. Sending 25 armors to the sci will only make them flee back onto boats and we will be stuck with no worker and 40 units that will take 20 turns getting back.

I think we should approach FREE first and hear if they are interested in signing a peace deal next turn and shipping rubber to us before we play, let's do this quickly. It may determine which approach we should take.

Yilar - do you even read my notes? This is what I posted before playing:

I'm hearing:

1) Abandon Ohka
2) Pull back to The Tower
3) Rush an airport in The Tower
4) Airlift a set of MA to SCI
5) Move a transport to set up an invasion of Cattauragus
6) Rush nothing else
7) Kill the FREE city on our mainland.

You replied to the thread later, but raised no objections.

NOW you are . .. .. .. .. .ing because I did PRECISELY what that said?

This game has been a lot of fun, but I gotta tell you, you are a real pain in my ass right now.

If you have a different plan, lay it out.

I'm not convinced that SABER will attack The Tower at all. We certainly can't reconnect the rubber, so why increase their weariness when we can't reach our victory condition?

I agree that we should talk to FREE about rubber, though.

I don't think what we did was a mistake at all.
If Saber had left only a small force on the island, we'd have been thrilled to have a small stack of Modern Armor to finish them off.

As it is - we can reinforce the tower and probably hold it just fine against their stack. Can't we send in a huge stack of Mech Infantry now? That was my understanding, and with our homeland out of immediate danger, there's no reason to NOT make a heroic stand in The Tower.

I'll get started on a letter to FREE...

Yeah, I probably am a pain in the ass ;) and I probably should have red the notes, I have a habbit of getting frustrated sometimes, i'm sorry if I offended you in any way.

I did however advocate earlier that we should let the SCI island burn and not play sabers game and try to defend it.

This is the absolute worst thing we can do, we are completely immobile in that city, and we will be letting Saber dictate the terms. If we land mechs Saber will just knock them out one by one slowly, meaning we would have send a steady flow there, costing us lots of shields. If we land Armors they will hop onto mountains giving them odds and preventing us from attacking without looking at pretty bad odds. They get to pick the battles, so the "heroic stand" will be Sabers choice and not ours, and I don't think they are gonna attempt a battle they will lose. If we try to sneak in a stack they will see it and jump back on the boat, trapping us on the island.

Let me ask you this question, what do we have to gain from that island?

The sinking of that transport with the MA army in the south makes me believe they have drawn back after just denying us rubber. However..I would still be a bit wary as we are dealing with cunning players. That stack might not be completely gone yet.

I think we are off the hook though, realistically. FREE will soon become a problem for SABER too. But we have to find a way to get rubber, cause I don't thin FREE will provide us with it...that woudl be daft.

As for the Cattaraugus attack - can we take it this turn, or are we not sure to take it then?
I am sure SABER will start thinking about what we woudl do to get rubber again very soon.
