First of all, Howdy all of you out there. I'm New to Civ4. I just wanted to ask a quick Question.

Why some does a certain building take 15 turns in one city, 30 in another and 4 and the other?

A building will take a certain number of hammers to build.
A city generates a different number of hammers depending on what tiles you are working in that city.
So if a building takes 10 hammers to build and you are generating 2 hammers per turn in a city, that building will take 5 turns to build.

If you double click on a city, you can see the hammers you are generating per turn in the top of the screen, to the right of the bar showing what building/unit you are building.

Take a look at some of those articles, they can really help you out.:goodjob:

Welcome to the game! And please, if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Also, don't forget :hammers: multipliers:

- Certain civics (Bureaucracy in capital, Organized Religion in cities with the state religion, Police State when building military units, State Property in all the empire)

- Production multiplying resources (mostly stone or marble, especially when it comes to wonders)

- If it's a civil land unit (worker or settler, those take in food & production to make)

- Extra production speed from the traits (i.e. faster forges with an Industrious leader, faster libraries with a creative leader)

- Certain buildings (forges & factories for all :hammers: production, Heroic Epic for military units...).

- Golden Ages (add +1 :hammers: to any tile yielding :hammers:, happens the same with :commerce: )
