MOSCOW, Russia (Reuters) -- Couples caught kissing on Moscow's underground rail system could be fined under new regulations being considered by city authorities while those going too far could face jail, a newspaper's Web site said on Friday.

The kissing ban could even extend to a husband embracing his wife, Stolichnaya Vechernyaya Gazeta said on its Web site.

The newspaper, quoting unnamed sources, said the city authorities were thinking of introducing the ban to raise levels of public morality.

"From the New Year citizens kissing and embracing publicly will be fined," it said. "Particularly blatant cases could even lead to a spell of temporary detention in jail," it added.

It quoted a city education official, Tatyana Maksimova, as saying metro travellers were indulging in increasingly lax behavior including drinking alcohol from bottles and cans.

"Our children are getting love lessons all day long from what they see around them," Maksimova said.

Moscow police would not comment on the report.

Well....yeah.....how else are the children supposed to learn what to do during recess? They watch enough TV as it is...it's better to see it up close and personal. :p

But since I'm all alone and nowhere near Moscow, I don't care!

Oh, I don't think there should be a kissing ban. That's the most ******ed thing I've heard all day! It's not violent (well, I suppose it could be if the couple was a little rough), and it doesn't hurt anybody. As long as the souples aren't rounding second base to hard, it's fine! It's a natural thing anyway... ;)

Great going, Mr. Putin.

First the government rigs election in Chechnya and St Pete, then it goes after YUKOS, and now it's banning kissing in subways...

Why are we still pretending Russia is a free country?

Because they have some good vodka.

But, I'm sure if you find your way into crevices of NYC's subway system, you'll see people getting the signal from the third base coach and being waved home. Or just on a couple of late night trains.....:stops before the content turns beyond PG13:

It's a natural thing? Natural to whom? lol

Well it is you know. :mischief: If it weren't, we wouldn't be talking right now. Our parents found it natural.

And now you've ruined my thoughts for the next seventeen years....I'll be 35 when I finally recover!

Thats even worse than the No-public displays of affection rule in my old High School

Hey, so are mine but that's not about to stop me from getting what I want, if you catch my drift. ;) :mischief:

Back to the article though, it is a truly natural thing. It doesn't hurt other people, no one dies. No one should be seeing uber heavy making out, cuz that's private, but a hug or a nice kiss isn't something that should be hidden. It's sweet really. :)

Only for people that know they can get some of that themselves! Lol....I bet that education official is even more lonely than I can be!

The problem with recovering at 35 is.....my life is probably 3/4th over by then.

And I'm sure someone has died from kissing...

I do seem to recall some story about a guy suffocating....

but that's not the issue. kissing isn't exactly high-risk, and no bystanders are hurt by it :p

Depends who's doing the kissing ;)

You see, if someone saw me kiss, they'd probably throw up their stomach

But, this would be a serious First Amendment issue if such a thing were implemented in New York City, for instance.

i didn't know kissing someone was a sign of immorality:rolleyes: I think it's stupid, but i imagine they're just going it for the fine money.

while those going too far could face jail

what exactly does too far mean:mischief:

Maybe kissing with tongue lands you in the slammer for a week or two.

If that's the case, then I can just blast loud sirens every 5 seconds to keep people from falling asleep and missing their stops.....you gotta admit...this is pretty silly that it's even brought up.

I'd like to see them try to pass a similar law in France... the consequences would be devastating!

Anyway, what a ridiculous law. When a society deems that affection for someone else goes against the grain of morality, you know that you're dealing with a very screwed up mind.

My high school has those. Its an all-boy school, however.

Its pretty fun, actually. An annoying kid will poke someone and I will yell out, "Why are you inappropiately touching him?"

:mwaha:

Ya crazy stuff happens. In my minds it is two consenting adults, so who cares?

But Russia is not the only crazy country. Look at the US. It is still illegal in some states for two consenting adults of the same sex to have sex.
