Quick question about Steam: How to MP with Campaign edition?

I have a new iMac and am wanting to play some humans. What do I do? Steam? How does it work? I bought my version of Civ V through the app store and had G&K DL'd. So...please help. The AI is getting to be a bit lame.

I don't think you can use Steam if you have bought the Mac AppStore version. You can only play multiplayer games on your local network.

I was afraid of that. If only I knew then what I know now. (sigh) curse my rural surroundings. I will poke around for something more official but I suspect you are right.
