I just download blender and what to play around with some civ units but when ever i click on the files blender returns and error. I thought i could open .nif files. i even tryed changing them to jpeg... please help!

You need to download the max plugins located here and use the nifviewer. Rabbit has 3 excellent tutorials on exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

I'm not sure you can actually import the units into Blender either.

Thanks... looks like i have to put in a vote for you at the ffh forum :)

Did you unpak all of the art files? There is a tutorial in the CFC and also documentation at the Firaxis homepage.

Another question: when doing models what does everyone use... triangles, or ploygons? I remember in a tutorial someone told me that they put together small triangles to make models... just wondering what eveyone else use?

Triangles are polygons. For some reason polygon is commenly used, despite the fact that AFAIK all 3D software uses traingles, and not any other polygon.

ok thanks for the info... lol yea i what i was trying to say was +3 sided polygons :)

From what I've been reading a triangle has twice the faces so polys are used now. Or something like that. :crazyeye: My mind is mush.
