Quick Question

I just started playing and I was wondering...in the diplomacy screen when you go to trade goods it shows what they have and what you have. When there is a resource with a 1 by it, does that mean that you only have 1, or that you have 1 to trade? I think it means that you only have one, because I was recently playing a game where I traded a source of copper that had a 1 by it, and then I had to trade with somebody else to get another source because I didnt have one. Could somebody clear this up for me?

As you figured, it is the total number of resources you got. Even your last resource of a kind is free for trade. What use is your single marmor when you actually need to get copper to defend yourself?
Although I am not sure wether this includes resources you traded from other players. I believe you can only trade resources you actually own, but I don't really know.
