I don't understand what is a "super specialist"?? Also, is it really that harmful if I just put my workers on automate function??

    Thanx For Any Responses

a super specialist is a Great Person that is settled in a city.
it gives the listed benefits to that city.

not harmful per se, just not optimal ;) (it can be harmful if you don't check the "worker leave old improvements" and "worker leave forests" option)

I wouldn't recommend automating anything... even explorers. If you want something done right, do it yourself.

you'll do better doing things yourself once you have the time to focus on that. if you're just starting out, i go against that standard advice and recommend a focus on learning other aspects while you do take advantage of some of the automated options. for me, i do better spending my limited brain cells on one or two things at a time, not getting overwhelmed with trying to do everything. mileages vary naturally.

99.994% of the CFC folks will probably recommend not automating a darn thing; i advocate doing what works for you as you learn at your own pace. many many people here have been playing so long that they forget (thru no fault of their own) what it was like starting out. bottomline: i say not to believe that as gospel and the "one true way" while learning. do what works for you, and remember that the goal is to have fun, it's a game ;).

good luck, and welcome to CFC :)

But Kmad - wouldn't *not automating* be one of the best ways to learn? Granted, there's a lot to grasp when you're first starting. We all learn at our own pace, but that's what difficulty levels are for. I still wouldn't automate for fear of that becoming a cruch... just my oppinion. :)

not automating is the best way to "learn by doing" those aspects of the game. i just mean if you're new enough that all aspects of the game are new, and if you're like me in that you can't learn 80 directions at once ;). so many people say "never automate" that i posted just to be contradictory since i've actually seen people take it as gospel, and then get awfully frustrated and overwhelmed.

I usually use automation (if there are it) when learning new game. It's very educative to think for example "Why automated worker put that over there?"

that's a good point...though from what i've observed of worker automation results...it's not something the player should emulate lol

The answer will often be "because the automated worker algorithm isn't very smart". I don't think there's any harm in doing it, so long as you appreciate that the computer can't do it as effectively as a competent player, and you don't assume that there is any sound logic behind the automated decisions. Obviously, it won't always make bad choices, but don't rely on it making good ones.

If you find that automating workers helps you learn quicker, then more power to you. Go for it.

I just gave an example, I have used (with most of the games) that human is better than AI, but automations are good wakener. When I get to the stage where I suppose that I can do better than AI, I have (in my own mind of course) learned games mechanism and I can use my own brains.

I wasn't clear, but I assume your asking about what to do with Great People - along the lines of the OP? The great thing about Great People is that they have many different uses. What you should do with them is largely situational though, and also varies depending on the type of Great Person that you get. With the exception of Great Generals, all Great People can be used to start a golden age, or to "lightbulb" a given tech. Every Great Person can be settled as a Super Specialist. Some Great People - Great Generals, Great Prophets, Great Scientists, and Great Spies can be used to construct a special building. The right choice at a given time will depend mostly on your current needs and even more importantly, what it is that you're attempting to accomplish long-term. Because it is largely situational, I don't know as that there's a simple answer to your question. I think it's more important to understand exactly what each of these options do, and then you can better decide how to leverage their strengths in a given situation.
