Instability in the Iranian Islamic republic between 2020 and 2060 would cause several worst fears to be realized. The Iranian nuclear program was almost deployed within Iran itself following the Tehran uprising of 2056, but luckily for the protestors, no nukes were as of yet ready to be fired. Nevertheless, Iran remained a turbulent area for the remainder of the 21st century. As floods wiped out several low-lying areas of the country, mounting unrest led to what is still referred to as the Great Iranian Civil War of 2100-2190. A 90 year conflict, with only brief intermissions, would eventually see the theocratic movement based in Isfahan come out on top. Adopting an ancient war flag as their banner, the new Iranian government would annex parts of Baluchistan during the collapse of the Pakistani state, and in a historic agreement with Armenia - the Stepanakert Accords - the remainder of Southern Azerbaijan was divided. Faced with the concept of a new multinational state, the concept of Aryastan was born. An ecclesiastical council at Isfahan would, in 2400, end all divides within the Shia faith, and Aryastan wound up the promised land of all oppressed Shia.
Currently, Aryastan is definitely a regional power in Asia. Although the concept of the Thunder Dragon Empire still drives a lot of foreign policy, the rise of the Arab Federal Republic and her secular policies worry the leadership of Aryastan greatly. In addition, the Rus Archipelago situation affects Aryastani trade to a great effect, and Aryastan is keen to show itself a leader in anti-piracy action.

Tuareg State!
The Tuareg state is, strictly speaking, not a very new concept. Suggestions for a Tuareg state have been found in modern records dating back all the way to the 20th century, and the short-lived republic of Azawadd showed that there was some popular support for the idea. In the end, however, it was none of these that succeeded - but rather, the crisis of the Kabyle Berbers. When their traditional homeland flooded, it was the Tuareg berbers who took them in, and disputes between a widely spread Tuareg state and Algeria would lead to the Tuareg declaration of independence. by 2500, the effective destruction of the Libyan, Algerian and Tunisian states would lead to Tuareg dominance. All powers, including major states like the Thunder Dragon Empire, would recognize the Tuareg by the end of the decade. What followed, however, was a joint Moroccan-Egyptian invasion of Tuareg territory. While the details are rather unclear - the sudden embracement of the Neo-Third Way in Morocco cut off a lot of information - it seems that by 2050, the Tuareg state had managed to gain most of Egypt, while having lost Mauritania to Morocco. Currently, the Tuareg, Moroccans, and Egyptians exist in an uneasy peace. The disposing of a military government in the Tuareg state in 2598 led to the establishment of the current republic.
Major issues facing the Tuareg state are, of course, Egypt and Morocco, a cold war still existing between these three powers. Perhaps more interestingly, the Tuareg have recently been at a crossroads of what they consider themselves, and many are calling for a process of "African integrationism" - the concept that as long as some Tuareg do not live within the borders of the Tuareg state, the Tuareg state is not yet complete. The borders of Niger-Sokoto and Chad are heavily guarded by technicals in preparation of any Tuareg attempts.

3) Latam Republic
You have been selected as the leader of
Texas!
Unlike most successor states to the USA, Texas has a longer - and possibly government-befuddled - history of desiring independence. The Waco Compound is still considered the New Alamo of the Texan State, and it came as very little surprise that the death of America may very well have been caused by a Texan nationalist. Texas has been a highly aggressive state, including wars against Lakotah, America-Reno and Mexico in its less than illustrious portfolio. their most recent attempt, in 2590, led to the effective dismantling of the Texan State. Unlike the 21st century, Texas is no longer a wealthy region - although there is still some oil, the world has moved beyond fossil fuels, and this has led to a great usage of oil in the Texan military as a desperate move to be rid of it all increases.
Current issues facing the Texan government are those facing many. The loss of several major population centers as a result of the Gulf Coast floods has led a drive into reclamation, while the disarmed state is slowly looking to recuperate it's armed forces. This is further fueled by the concept of Texan Exceptionalism, a movement descended from the similarly-named American one - that it is Texas' duty to be the unifying force on the North American continent. As long as Texas does not improve its situation, however, this is very unlikely to occur.

2. Federation of Indian Ocean States
3. ASEAN
You have been selected as the leader of the
Federation of Indian Ocean States!
The FIOS is perhaps the loosest of all states in existence in 2600. Founded in 2400 following negotiations between Yemen, Ethiopia, and South Oman, over the next two centuries the FIOS would fluctuate in size. As of 2600, the constituent republics of the FIOS are Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Yemen, North Oman, and South Oman. Former members have included the state of Mysore, which has since been annexed into Naxalite India, and South Sudan, which left for the rather obvious reason that it did not have an Indian Ocean coast. The FIOS, as a concept, is wildly dedicated to stemming the tide of the Indian Ocean while encouraging trade between its constituent members. Currently, the parliament is dominated by Federalists supporting the status quo - but there are also dissenting voices, with the integralists arguing for the evolution of the constituent members into one unitary state, and the nationalists seeking to break away. The FIOS is at both wildly popular and unpopular - being seen as the stabilizer of the East African economy but simultaneously well known for the Sana'a Massacres of 2550.
Issues facing the FIOS include the reclamation of former territory along the Indian Ocean, with the future goal of reunifying Oman territorially. Other issues include the slow rift between the Arab members and the African members, with Arab arguments being that the FIOS cares only for her richest states, i.e. Ethiopia and Djibouti.

3. Commie Crees
You have been selected as the leader of the
People's Cree Federation!
The People's Cree Federation was initially conceptualized, like many of the First Nation-States, as a corporate collective. However, this did not suit the Cree. With possible America-Chicago influence, the Cree rose up against what was still perceived to be a system designed by the, at this point, white minority within the country. The violence that tore through the major cities of the Cree is generally credited by historians as the single deciding factor that made most remaining First Nation-States reexamine their relationships with Native heritage. The PCF is, despite this history of extreme violence, fiercely connected, not only with other communist states - surely the highlight of any visit to Winnipeg is the great Cree-India monument in front of the People's Parliament - but with other native states. Cree Leadership has often emphasized the need to cooperate between the First Nation-States, and the Cree are definitely a proponent of world revolution through soft power and convincing, rather than through coercion.
Issues facing the Cree include the stabilization of the Arctic climate, as well as the protection of the native Cree heritage. The official Party Manifesto has an entire section dedicated to "The Role of Cree in the People's Revolution", and it is to implement several policies by the end of this session's term in 2620.
