Quran Burning - Chaos Erupts In Afghanistan

If you take your religion so seriously you'll gladly murder people who disagree with you or strike out at people who aren't involved in any way, it's your religion that's the problem, not the people criticizing it.

If you have read any verses in the quran ,it is from baised one point of veiw websites that take the quran out of context, realy the problem isnt my religion ,your beleifs its your attiditude toward tolerance.

Please feel free to get the muslim explanation for those verses if you want Pm me or babri, so we can explain those "problematic verses". Also babri lives in pakistan, so expect a day for him to respond, if you do ask him say Defenderof/islam sent me. But it would be easeir to pm me, sorry to spam:)

This was kind of a response to the Protestants thing but it is surprisingly relevant.
Go for it, I don't care.
Filthy Protestants! We shall re-Catholicise you all in time!
Yes! Vivat Torquemada! Vivat Amalric!

Well I have no tolerance for any religion honestly. Well no, that isn't 100% true. I have no tolerance for when people demand agreement or punish disagreement when it comes to religion. This comes in many forms, being socially ostracized, being called un-insert nationality here, and being, you know, killed.
Take a look at this video for a further a fuller explanation.

I've also never read any websites that pick apart the Koran or put any opinion on it. I've read bits and pieces of the book itself and I find it as archaic and disparaging as the Bible and Torah.

yeah, we have the right to burn it, BC. That doesn't mean it's a good idea.

You have the right to burn a Quran, but do you have the right to use it to incite violence and so lead to killings elsewhere? If I start mooning people I'll claim the right to moon and if someone kicks me while bending over then I'm not to blame?

Come on, everybody knew the possible consequences of this beforehand.

People of all sects use religion to incite violence. However if I were to post a video of me burning a Bible on YouTube and it got media attention I seriously doubt, apart from some death threats in the YouTube comments, that any violence would emerge from it. The same if I burned the Torah, the Sruti, or Smriti (maybe with the last two). Yet if I burned a Koran, well you saw what happened.

Try burning a stack of Bibles in one of those lovely communities in the Bible Belt or going to Jerusalem and burning the Torah in front of the worshippers at the Wailing Wall.

How is that relevant? I could understand (your point, not the violence itself) if Jones burned it in the middle of Mecca, but he burned it in his home half a world away from the region.

Why?? Arabs and Muslims burn the American Flag all the time. If they have the right to burn our holy symbols, we have the right to burn theirs. It's long past time they learned that.

(go ahead....ask the question that just popped into your mind after reading the underlined part. I've got a counter all planned out)

Ok the question in my mind is.

So your saying Gen Petraues is wrong. I mean he only did write the counter insurrgency manual and saved Iraq but hey what dose he know. Why didnt it simply occur to him to simply take hostage a few thousand korans and threaten to burn them.Or maybe the issue isnt so easy as one would think.

But anyway lets hear it.

People died because of his negligence. That is why what he did was wrong. It wasn't "retribution" or anything like that. He is just a real life troll. Maybe in his mind burning the Quran is justice for burning of Bibles in the Middle East. However, where is the justice for those killed because of his actions?

Unfortunately distances are blurred by telecommunications. Let's suppose you burn a few Torahs and get it broadcast by Israeli TV channels. Wouldn't the Jews riot? The only thing is, they're not fighting the US already. If the US had invaded Israel and you burned the Torah you'd be getting your people killed alright.

It's been done plenty fo times already in the past and yet the Bible is still around despite of the many attempts to have it banned from personal use in the past.

I'm pretty mad at that pastor for burning that Koran. He now has the death of all those U.N. people on his soul. He should just kill himself. As far as I'm concerned, he is a murderer. He burned that Koran knowing full well that someone would die over it. He wanted someone to die over it to prove his point. He's no better than the people who killed those U.N. workers.

In the recent US Supreme Court decision over the Westboro Baptist Church, the Supremes declared that even hateful funeral protests are free speech, "...to ensure even hurtful speech on public issues is to ensure that we do not stifle public debate".

This is consistent with past court decisions on flag burnings and religious desecrations in this country and represents a core value of most Americans. I may disagree with pastor Terry Jones for burning what others regard as a holy book, but I must defend his right to do so.

In some of the Muslim countries, a mob can always be whipped-up at a moment's notice to riot, burn and kill. It is particularly bothersome however, that the mob attacked a harmless UN compound that was aiding local Afghans, rather than some American facility more directly associated with an irresponsible act by an American citizen.

The current CNN.com article speculates that the Koran-burning was a cover for already-planned-for violence by terrorists. Loaded AK-47's were "found" by protesters at the scene and used to kill UN personnel. I suspect we don't yet know the whole story.

I can't wrap my head around the logic of killing people who were not involved with this pastor's trolling in any way. Why does it seem like Muslims feel like they have a special right not to be offended, and to kill anyone who does offend them? I don't condone the desecration of religious texts or artifacts, but Jeebus, grow up and stop throwing these tantrums whenever some one insults you. It's the most babyish thing that I've ever seen adults do.

Are you talking about me? Stop generalizing
