This is my first attempt loading up a map.

The map is small with 8 starting islands. Three early contest islands (one of which I have taken to calling Paris Island). And the Newworld.

The map was designed with 8 starting places. but I allowed up to 16 civs. During testing the other 8 civs seemed to center on the Newworld.

Lots of barbarian camps and goody huts...

The main reason for designing the map was to see how the AI would treat a new world that would require the Lighthouse or Caravels to reach it.

The map has single sea squares to allow the AI (or you) to have a chance of reaching the Newworld.

In the ten or so games that I have played, I allowed (ok-I only allowed them to do it 3 times the other times they beat me) the AI to get to the lighthouse first. When the AI gets the light house first they do a good job of building up around half of the newworld. Unfortunately they get beat up pretty bad when everyone gets the Magnetism.

The 8 starting islands are set up in pairs so that early wars can take place when the civs get galleys.

The only neagtive about the map is that the AI civs treat the starting islands the same and build exactly the same way. I hope that the guys at firaxis will allow some variability in how the AI attacks a problem(like city placement in confined places).

Hope everyone enjoys it

Finally here is minimap

This shows map with 9 civs started - I recommend 8 but have had enjoyment playing up to 16(the extra 8 have been spread out on the Newworld- the biggest island in the middle).

Its been awhile - would love some feedback - especially from people that did not enjoy the map. I may be revisiting the map using the latest editor...

I have always thought that a map like this would be great for multiplayer, so I hope to convert it with the new editor when I get some time...

Of course another weakness of Civ3 is that it does not handle amphibious landings well - so any multiplayer people that want to try it out will have to check the amph boxes in the editor (if its still there).

Thanks in advance

Ive already posted in your other forum but anyway, first I must say, I haven't been on the forums long (like 3 days, but as you can see i have alot to say :) lol)[well i guess ive been on the forums for a LONG time, but never had an account] but what I have noticed that you get alot of negative feedback, and some good, but the good that you get is enough :) I haven't played the map yet but I will download it and try it out and let you know what I think (when i find time) SHeesh!!! Ive been on the forums for an hour! Enough said! Time to go! lol bye, have a great time making your map, Its important to ENJOY yourself while making this junk lol! :). Enough said.

Soon to come: Corn's opinion on craterus's map! whoo hooo Im sure you all look forward to it! [lol, literaly lol.]

This version is more deometric and less interesting than version 2 for Conquests...

I spent more time in version 2 trying to get the AI to build a maximum number of cities.

But it is more fun because there is no seafaring trait and it is a race to be the first to get the Great Lighthouse.

Looking forward to your feedback...
