So long as all European countries are equally targeted, and it's within acceptable taste, nothing too wrong with this.

What does it say about the Czech Rep. though, I'm interested in that too.

I guess it's unflattering quotes/gaffes made by the CZ Prime Minister about the EU (c.f. Bushisms)

Czech Rep.: Klaus' anti-EU statements in golden frame (meaning: this is the most common stereotype about the Czech Rep.).

As for the rest, this is the biggest picture I found.

Stereotyping one European nation = not funny
Stereotyping ALL European nations = downright hilarious

Here is a PDF with sketches for all the nations with 'explanations' by the artists (which are very funny too as sendups of artistic jargon). More info here.

The earth-closet is called "Turkish closet" in Czech, so I guess it's related somehow.

Partially, but in the Czech Rep. case the European press indeed pays too much attention to Klaus and too little to the country itself.

BTW I understand that it is supposed to reflect both the foreign stereotypes and the local stereotypes (thus the missing UK, Austria as a nuclear power plant, Denmark with prophet Muhammad made of lego etc.).

But hey, ask the guy who made it.

Mise, honestly now, do you SERIOUSLY feel it is offensive, or are you just pulling our leg?
For the love of God, I can't find anything remotely racist or offensive here... maybe with the exception of Bulgaria.

    Lego Muhammad?!

    Hold. The. Press.

You're gonna get in big trouble for that one!

    Someone cue the rioters.

Now I see why this is a BIG DEAL to some people.

Is this true? Are the artists "invented"? Who actually made the thing?

If the Lego Muhammad guy is real, he's gonna need serious protection from those wacko muslims.

I don't see anything racist or offensive here. It doesn't look all that good though, and looks like a huge waste of money.

    He and his assistants :)

Consider the irony: Czech gov. wanted a provocative piece of art to show the EU what they mean by the slogan "we"ll make it sweet for Europe" and to introduce the EU people to the specific form of Czech humour.

And in the end, the guy made fun of them too  That's simply hilarious :D

Well, I suppose he's just like van Gogh - a sort of freethinker and a rebel - so he wouldn't accept police protection even if it was necessary.

Make no mistake. Anyone who creates a lego muhammad needs protection from Islam. That's a capital offence according to muslims.

If this is rascist, then South Park is pure nazism.

Making fun of stuff is not bad at all, and can be quite fun, as long as everyone is targettet equally.
