Railways not building?

Into the modern age for the first time... playing as American

I've built railyards (their version of rail station) and researched industrialisation but no railways are being built?! What do i need to do?

It’s confusing but Rail Yards isn’t a unique Rail Station … Rail Station is a separate building that takes a full tile.

Thanks, figured it out. Can't actually see the railways though becomes so many buildings between cities
