Don't ask me, it's 5 AM here, do I look like I've slept for a minute?

Oh shut it, I've just broken my own record for N's 79th episode and you lot keep blabbing about 'Merican elections.

Feel like crap, have an exam tomorrow that I haven't done any study for, still have a considerable portion of a report that needs finishing.

Moral of the story, procrastination is a cruel mistress.

I am so hungover, I wish I were dead. I blame Obama for this. Why did you make me drink like that Mr. President?

Did you play the election drinking game? I know some of my friends did and based of their status last night, I don't envision seeing them in my afternoon classes.

Nonbinding, eh? I got all hyped up over nothing.

I hate myself. :suicide:

You didn't get worked up over nothing. It is way more complex than just saying 'nonbinding, therefore doesn't count'. Read the thread for more nuance than that.

It's still likely they will get statehood from an objective standpoint.

 Today has been an extraordinarily

y day. Prime example of Murphy's Law.

Well, for me it's been at over 30º C all day, I don't know how much water I've drunk today.

We demand a detailed description ^^.
Spoiler rambling. Be careful what you wish for. :P :

Got up for work at 9:30 am, thinking I'd go in at 11 in the morning. Learned I didn't need to go in 'till 11:30. Thus, I had lost a half hour of precious precious sleep, especially considering I was up 'till 4:30 am.

Work was no better. Busy as hell. A couple of coworkers fought over politics. I lagged behind in getting the dishes washed because it was too damned busy (I work at Burger King). So close to the end of my shift, when it finally slowed down, they assigned a co-worker to help me. Which, tbh, I hate with a
JUYqj.gif
passion. Not the co-worker, he's a fine guy, I just
JUYqj.gif
hate teamwork. And every time that happens, I get into serious self-doubts as to my ability to keep up, cuz I wonder if I'm going too slow, especially when I see them basically just effortlessly fly through the huge pile of dishes in mere minutes, a speed I know I will never, ever, ever attain, as a result of some damn
JUYqj.gif
refusing to keep her damn hands off alcohol for 9 months.

Finally clocked out at 2 pm (I'm part-time). Just when I think I would be able to comfortably relax for 40 minutes before my ride came, I saw this damn downer of a space news report. And just as I went to check the latest posts to my thread in IALS on my smartphone, my ride was 15 minutes early.

Next, my ride dropped my off at my appointment with my therapist, scheduled for 3. I was there about a half hour early. The guy at the check in desk in the waiting room took forever. When I finally did get to check my thread, I was pissed by hobbs' response (but naturally, I did my best to keep my cool, considering appropriate behavior is mandatory).

Probably the only tolerable portion of the day was the hour long appointment itself.

Next, I went to Denny's for dinner with a family friend. I then realized I hadn't used the restroom since I got up, so I decided to wait until after ordering. Completely spaced out. Didn't remember until the food was already on the table. Didn't stop the family friend from describing in detail about the surgery she needed for her foot since the bone(s?) keeps dislodging and piercing the skin. Before leaving, a girl stopped by for a quick chat with the family friend. When she left, the family friend repeatedly kept telling me she was cute. It's a rant cuz a) not my type (blonde, tiny boobs), and b) she works at the local culver's, a restaurant chain that utterly repulses me and leaves a genuine sick feeling in my stomach, and my body seems to tease me about triggering my gag reflex every time I see that damn building.

I didn't get home 'till 5:20 tonight. Found out one of my uncles dropped in for a surprise visit (he lives in Colorado, with some of the family I mentioned last night) and met with my dad and bro, not too far from where I live. Of course, I wouldn't have been able to see him anyway, since he's a truck driver on his way somewhere, and I was working.

Of course, coming onto the internet with my tethering since I'm finally back with [gollum]myyyyyyyyyyyyyyy preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccccciooooooooooooussssssss[/gollum] laptop, and was bombarded with bad news after bad news.

Bachmann won. Even worse since I live in her district. A local (Democrat) politician the family friend supported lost her election bid.

And finally, my bladder burst and I died.

Mr P, you've got to be one of the most interesting posters on CFC.

A Current Affair makes me angrier than it should. The other night they had a segment called 'All Asian Mall', which was basically a Pauline Hanson rant. The advisory note in their own code of practice makes it pretty clear that they should:
avoid references to the ethnic or racial origin of a person or group which imply that only people from English-speaking backgrounds are Australian (e.g. do not automatically refer to an Australian of Chinese background as “a Chinese man”)
, but they were continuously and specifically juxtaposing 'Aussie shopowners' to Asians (or 'Australian' to 'Asian'), interspersed with random comments about being swamped, invaded or "I feel like I'm in another country". Shameless fear-mongering, playing on the remnants of Australian red-neck prejudices for the sake of ratings. How is this stuff mainstream, and why is there not more public outrage about the standard of 'current affairs' 'reporting' on the commercial networks?!?!?

There's also this:
Any reports on race-related issues should be well researched, and not based solely on the claims of particular groups.
But I guess given it's only 'advisory', they don't have to worry, and can have basically the whole thing narrated by Hanson, with one token non-white on the screen for two seconds to fill the quota.

Sounds like something from the "ridiculous ads" thread, from the right wing parties :D.

Oh, I could point out at where it could have even gone worse, but yeah, not really a nice day.

:gripe: waiting time for the formalities is killing me now :gripe:. So much stuff to do, but nothing possible until that is done.

Heat wave induces power cuts. Floods induce mosquitoes. This is not good.

It's so annoying to see some creep trying his hardest to shaft the girl in our class. It is quite blatent, he touches her, whispers to her, tries his hardest to make her laugh... It's quite sickening. Perhaps the only thing worse would be the revelation that she actually enjoys it... I'm hoping my strategy of playing the friendly game and biding my time pays off.

A mind control device similar to those in SMAC would also be useful.

A good suggestion Mr. T, but sadly they don't exist in OUR universe. I hope that's not reflective of my actual chances.
