"LEAVES" please.

Did they finally win something? I know next to nothing about sports, but I hear that they're famous for never winning.

LEAFS!

They didn't really win anything. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs. But they haven't done that in 19 years and are (recently) famous for choking. They were 0-11 in elimination games (which had a statistical likelihood of 0.05%). They have a more long-term fame of not winning the Cup, which dates back to 1967.

I'm content with just this curse being broken for now.

BRUINS!

Best weekend ever for Leafs fans. The Kraken also murdered the defending champs tonight, much to my best friend's chagrin. :D

I'm not really all that into hockey but I did catch bits of the Kraken-Avs series on TV's in bars I've been in over the past few weeks and it was cool to see them do well. Some of my friends back in Seattle were a lot more excited about it than me, but I'll probably still loosely follow them for as far as they go in the playoffs.

Camp NaNoWriMo is over until July. I officially finished on April 17, and as of a few minutes to midnight last night, had over 2000 words more than I needed.

I've had via work on online meeting with some collaborators. One of them is an acquaintance of mine, with whom I've not had caught up for more than a year. Later after the meeting we had a short private phone call, and he offered me a job. Timing is a shame, 4 years ago I'd gladly have gone to Spain. But it feels amazing that someone offered me a job. Makes you feel valued and competent. That was great :D.

Well, if you keep in touch, something may come of it in the future if you decide that your current situation isn't working out.

I'll actually try my best even without that intention. His wive is pregnant, and one of her best friends is one of my best friends and she's living closed by. I plan to contribute to a present when the time comes.

Hm. Fiddler on the Roof on TV tonight. Free pizza tonight. New flavor of Dr Pepper to try tonight (strawberries!). That's a good combination.

sent in a 100 page manuscript. it's about half the size of the intended end size (the folder i collected from has ~300 files, and i still need to write other stuff), but a publisher i know pushed for me to send something.

it's a very early (and crappy) version, but it's still got some good stuff. whole point with a prompt like this is for the publisher to take a look at it and give direction as i do it.

we're gonna talk next week. i'm just content. been ages since my first book.

also, contrary to my first book, this can actually be meaningfully translated. not that it's ever gonna be, but i can actually properly translate it for english speakers if i want to.

What's the book about?

it's one of 'em navel-gazing things about my experiences with mental illness the last few years. something i never do, and never like to do, but i felt like it. where i hope it gets interesting is how its done. my life actually had plot points, rising action and such.

genre-wise i guess it's somewhere within literary fiction, and the prose is very poetic. i always make some language weirdness, this time it's toned way down. but most of the text has no grammatical congruency, and it should, ideally, still be completely parseable what's going on in the text's space.

No "F Sartre too"? :D
I wish it does well.

hahaha no not this time. i did a quip about aristoteles tho, but mostly in some reflection over his concerns in morality; that too much virtue can invite vice since it opens up opportunities for vicious people. edit the point is that i don't like him but i agreed with that point

Just got off the phone with the computer store where my old laptop has been for awhile. The cost is MUCH less than I'd expected (like nearly $200 less). They're giving me an extension to pick it up, so it looks like I've got two places to go next week - voting and picking up the computer.

The only downside is that they're at opposite ends of town so I can't do both on the same day.

I don't see how pineapple on pizza could be worse than Figs on pizza. Figs are among the oldest traditional toppings in some regions of Italy.
Plus the sweet and savory combination in main dishes is a very traditional way of preparing food.
