Had my Reflexology appointment today. They had to make accommodations ... they put me in the couples' pedicure room so I could sit upright (I'm not allowed to lay on my back), and they had to really prop my feet up. Felt wonderful though, I really needed that. I was so amazed she discovered I was feeling pressure on my eye, and hopefully my treatment will help with my headache.

Reflexology is the spa treatment I look forward to the most. Very happy girl right now.

That's the kind of thing that only tends to happen to folks that are living in the house they grew up in.

As an aside... that must be one helluva a sturdy fridge  what brand is it?

    Short answer: it's a 50-minute foot massage.

Long answer: your massage therapist uses points of pressure to determine troubled areas of your body and release healing energy. I've been doing it for about a year, and it really has helped me a lot with chronic conditions.

Nope. Please don't insult something out of hand just because you don't understand how it works.

So what? They can't prove that it doesn't help (absence of proof is not proof of absence) Enough people have benefited from it (myself included), that it's known to be effective in many ways. Don't knock it until you've tried it :)

    Your loss.

If you're not interested in something, why try to bring down people who are?

Because I dislike psuedoscience. It's genuinely dangerous. That sort of thinking is what breeds antivaxxers and the like.

You're generalizing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with reflexology, and it helps a lot of people. No one says it's meant to replace orthodox medicine, but it's a wonderful supplement.

It is not "pseudoscience." Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean there's something wrong with it. The fact that my therapist can so accurately find out what's bothering me gives me a lot of confidence. I've had such good experiences with it, which is why I keep going back.

But regardless ... I enjoyed my experience and was feeling good. Why would you want to try to ruin my happiness when it doesn't hurt you in any way?

Even if all it does is reduce stress levels, that's bound to help with stuff.

Reflexology sounds like bunk to me, but people say the same thing about chiropractors and my grandma was a legit chiro.

A foot massage (or any massage really), by whatever name it is called, that relieves stress and makes one feel better is a great thing. You can even call it "magical" and not be wrong.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying a foot massage and you feel 'better', but it isn't science.

Well yeah, but chiropractic also claims to be able to do a lot of things it can't actually do. It can help a bit with back pain, but not really much else.
