You really are as high as a kite on motherhood!

This belongs here, not in the rants part :)

I got a carload of books yesterday and I've been sorting them today.

One of my uncles & his wife decided that they're old and are moving from a house to an apartment so something had to go - roomful of books among other things. The original plan included dumping part of them to local waste disposal place but since most of them are hard covers that's not free and that would've meant that I'd have to load & empty my car within time. Instead I just loaded the car before leaving with a thought that I'll burn them at home when I'll have sufficient time. Turned out that the burning part will not be much of an issue but the lack of shelves very much so.

Next Friday is my husband's 41st birthday.

Today I told him that I booked a suite at the Omni on the Magnificent Mile, and got a reservation at his favorite restaurant (Giordano's) and that I took the day off from work.

He is so excited and happy. He loves Chicago (he grew up near there) and always wants to go back.

I love that man so much. He is my world and I would do anything for him.

Will this be seen as child allowance expansion or just taxable income? If it's the latter Mary will probably & rightfully so demand further compensations for increased tax filing labour.

Believe her when she says you will pay, Birdjaguar. Both because she's a wife and you're a husband and because she's a banker and you're not.

It is a well known fact that babies plan their births and the convenience of mom and dad are low on the priority list. :p

Surprisingly deviant creatures those baby thingies as their main function seems to be making loud noises while smelling bad. No wonder people love'em.

Not a proper rave but since we're about to get hit by a snowstorm I could do with something positive before ending up plowing at night.
My novice period at SF has ended as my morning posts today appeared immediately and not after a grace period when the boot camp sergeants supposedly check if my revolutionary ideas match with local guidelines. I got reported few times, possibly by Putin or Lavrov, but no sanctions so I might last longer than average Russian general on Ukrainian front.
Does anyone know how to give my bank details to Soros as he supposedly finances all trolls there and I'm not gonna be trumping workers' rights and work for free?

Please define "SF." To most Americans it means "San Francisco."

To me it means "science fiction." So your post is confusing, as anyone who's been around this forum as long as you have should be well past the novice phase of science fiction fandom.

StormFront in this case as I've refered to it previously and I have no will to market it any further.

Canada officially qualified for the FIFA World Cup '22 last night as the best team in CONCACAF*!

*We sit 3 points clear a the top of the group with 1 match to go, looking down on the U.S. and Mexico. In theory the U.S. can still claim 1st place if they manage to win the next game and we lose ours.. but in that scenario they would also need to overcome our goal difference, which is currently 4 goals better than the American stat (and 10 goals better than the Mexican). Our head2head stats are also better VS the Americans so they'd need to score one extra goal to overcome this goal difference. It's possible, but seems unlikely (we'd also need to lose, etc.)

Congrats to Costa Rica who were the only team in our group who were able to beat us. It looks like they are going to finish in 4th place, which will qualify them to play a playoff match with a team from Oceania. Winner of that match also goes to the WC.

Canada haven't qualified for the World Cup since 1986, the only time we've ever qualified. This is a huge deal for us. Not only were we able to qualify for the first time in 36 years and for the second time ever, we were also able to do it in style. Our team is flying high. Can't wait to see how our boys perform on the world's biggest stage later this year.

edit: I'm still on a hiiiiigh following last night's victory and qualification. Here are our best goals & moments from our WC qualification journey (not including action from the last 2 matches)

This is sorta a rave, and also a wish for the next thread, which is coming up fast. I started this one on New Year's Eve, 2020. It's taken over a year to get to the end, and I just want to thank everyone for sharing some of the good things in your lives.

As the song in the OP says, years may come, years may go, and the memories last (give it a listen if you haven't yet; the lead singer is now 80 years old, with an artistic career spanning over 50 years as a musician, storyteller, author, actor, and painter).

Keep sharing, since you never know when you might cheer someone else up as well.

UNC makes it to final four. And as a bonus will face Duke. That should be quite a game. I am hoping for a repeat of their last pairing.

Brinksmanship in play!

Could it be…?

Rave: Yes! I haz teh new thread!
