You just have to register with a valid email account. Well, and you have to pay for the non-free games.I have never had a Steam account.
How do I get one?

Well, of course the non-free games have to be paid for... I'm used to the Big Fish Games site, where members can get some pretty nice discounts with strategic use of punch card codes and other bonuses and sales. I rarely pay full price for any games there anymore. You just have to register with a valid email account. Well, and you have to pay for the non-free games.
@Valka: check if there's anything interesting there. I'm containing myself for the time being, lest I do something silly.
I KNOW! I have half a dozen recently acquired games I haven't even begun playing yet, except for running them once to check whether they work at all! And I have some on my personal .txt wishlist already! But Takhisis, you're the silliest of us all!
I took a quick browse around the site, and other than Civilization and a few other similar games, I've never heard of most of the others.Be careful with Steam, Valks, after all, they are after your money and they do have the type of wares which you like.
Thanks.I'm not sure what games you'd like but I do have quite a few unused or duplicate steam codes from humble bundles to get you started, valka, if you'd like.
Like Shoppe Keep, for example!
I'm into hidden object games and match-3 that have some sort of coherent story behind them... and that are not just a lot of blood/guts/gore. I had to give up on the Ravenhearst series because it got too stomach-turning with the imagery.@Valka: check if there's anything interesting there.
