Was his death from the mouthwash? If so, and if it wasn't just simple alcohol poisoning from drinking an extremely large amount, that would strange - it is definitely not supposed to be anything but ethanol. Methanol is too toxic to be used as a denaturant even if the mouthwash were used according to the label, isopropyl alcohol isn't as toxic but has an off-smell/flavor that consumers would dislike even if they could get regulators to approve it, and all other alcohols are much more expensive and also generally unpleasant.Someone I knew (past tense because he's now dead) used to drink mouthwash.
