It is super helpful. I used to buy separate pairs of prescription glasses, one that were sunglasses and the other normal. This is way more useful overall.
Put something over part of one of the lenses if you get the picture. The part that is shaded won't darken and you can make a cool 'reverse' shadow.

That reminds me of those far-off days in the early 1990s when there was no OSHA at children's summer activities and we were allowed to engage in photography workshops using an old pineapple tin as a camera. Fun times.

I don't know if they've gotten better, but way back in the day I had "photo-grey" lenses and they seemed like they were never quite totally clear. They would look clear if I took them off and looked, but they still seemed to dim my night vision.

When I got my reactive lenses, the optician recommended the brown transition over the grey transition because she thought that the grey sapped all the colour out the world when wearing them. The brown transitions would definitely be warmer than a cold grey colour.

Silly optician. The depression does that better than any grey lens ever could.

Well, given that I get anxious rather than depressed, I'd rather not add a depression filter to my sunny days too!

Yellowish-green: that of a churning stomach or a roiling mind.

No, synaesthesia: "a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway."

My issue with those transition lenses, is you're basically stuck with one style. I much prefer wearing contact lenses, and then you can buy any sunglasses you want (I have three pair right now that are in good shape)

I do both. It gets expensive to wear contacts every single day (I use dailies) and sometimes I don't want to deal with eye-fatigue/dryness brought on by contacts at the end of the day.

I change my glasses more frequently than I buy new clothes, so that's not a problem for me. ;)

I find artificial tears do wonders for my contacts late in the day ... a couple drops in each eye, and I'm like complely new :)

Not for me unfortunately. It helps but I have to use a lot of them and after a certain point in the day it doesn't really help at all.
