Random Thoughts X: Impromptu Interpretations

I think that Steam won't let you buy gifts for friends if they live in a country with different game prices. Which is a stupid policy.
I disagree. I live in a country with rock bottom prices. :D If I could gift game to my US friends, I'd be sending scads of games to them with every release. :yup:

Using the BBcode editor, I made these little color bars. Enjoy.

I used to think Black Forest cake was a cake made with ham, and Child Syn could not grasp the concept of why anyone would ever do such a thing or actively go out to get one.

I also used to think cheesecake was, well, y'know.

Get rid of the olives and that actually looks... not bad. If the bread were actual cake it'd be a hard no, but the loaf might work.

Cheese ... what??

It's as bad as it sounds. Cheez Whiz is better, and that's saying a lot.

Kraft used to send out these free "What's Cooking" magazines that had recipes that always conveniently included Kraft brand ingredients. Sometimes it was Cheese Whiz, and sometimes they tried to pass the Cheese Whiz recipes off as fancy gourmet ones which always amused me. Unfortunately all of the magazines I had were destroyed by mold. :(

It's not the recipe I've used, mine was without olives, and yes, it's tasty (not very healthy though lol).
It also has the advantage that it tastes good cold, and is easy to transport, so it's handy if you need to bring food for a potluck or so.
(I know, not relevant for you, but still)

I am reading a novel in which the author does not use contractions in dialogue. It is weird. If you are a writer, I do not suggest writing dialogue in this way, unless you want your characters to all sound stilted and formal. But maybe it is just me.

I see what you did there, and I applaud it :goodjob:

I won't be surprised if I am politely asked to rewrite large parts of the horror section of my new seminar.
It's almost as if just writing stuff without being clear does not cut it/isn't a good idea.
But my mood isn't the best these days, it's true. Anyway, at least the previous seminar is running and itself will provide some income.

Well it sort of is ... I mean, like, the main ingredient is cream cheese after all.

That really depends, I think the original cheese cake used quark (a dairy product which is very similiar to cream cheese, but is not really cheese in any meaningful way). Today in Germany the "New York Style" with cream cheese is actually nearly as popular as the Quark way of making it, personally I think both are absolutely delicious! If you can find some Quark I urge you to try it out, it's delicious, tart and sweet. It's a tad lighter with less sugar, fat, and some beaten egg white mixed in for air. Even here there are like dozens of regional styles which vary heavily, from something that looks like a sweet Chicago Deep Dish to some thin sheet pie.
