Did they not like children to have time to be children?

They want us to be super-man to be able to compete in the globalization era and to prepare when AFTA (similar to NAFTA) established, so we can compete with other foreign professional and corporation when it's finally enter Indonesia, at least this is what the school-principle always repeat to us during his speech at the flag ceremony every Monday morning.

It was also tightly related to capitalization of education, where book printer get a lot of money from the insane variety of curriculum's subject and we are forced to buy the books, and each year during my time the book always keep changing so we cannot used our senior book or borrow it from library. It's insane.

The Swedish school has been a major political question here, since students results has dropped relative to students in other countries.

Bur I'm glad I was blissfully ignorant of such things during my years in school (97-06).

I suggest starting by not putting orange text on a dark turquoise background.

At least for my eyesight that's very readable.

I thought the Scandinavian school system is categorized to be one of the best; relax and very short school hours, interactive class, no homework, no marks competition, curriculum that is student oriented, etc.

I think our curriculum might be good, but I don't think the other is so accurate.

Just a quick glance at the 2018 results suggests Scandinavian countries are mostly in the top 20 or better.

However I kinda disagree how these results have influenced policy making. My impression is that the education has stepped even further in not being good for students who are restless, has poor attention etc. As well as making students motivated/stress to get good grades instead of encourage to learn and learn more.

No homework sounds great ^_^

I recall how we would get a massive amount of homework for the christmas break. At late elementary I had to devise what I thought was a clever plan, to make me believe at some early day in the break that it was almost over, so I would do at least half of the homework.
I thought it was clever, until a girl from my class told me she did the same. Naturally, I immediately abandoned this trick - can't be on the same level as others

The two years I spent in high school, we had lockers but not enough time to use them. We had five minutes to get from Class A to Class B. Good luck going to your locker in-between to switch books. I got very accustomed to just stuffing all my binders and textbooks in my bag along with my lunch.
It was like this at my high school too. 5 minutes between classes on a large, sprawling campus. Like WTH?

Me too. 10 minutes between classes; 15 minutes to get across campus. :dubious:

Due to the arthritis in my knee, in my last year I actually had unofficial permission to leave class five minutes early when the next class was across the building (or on another floor) because otherwise I literally could not walk fast enough to not be late.

Every morning I always device a plan on how not to go to school. From pretending to be sick, till going to school and ending up somewhere else. I remember once my beloved mother used to be so tired that I got sick on many mornings, so whenever I told her I'm sick she checked my temperature and send me off to school if she think I'm fine.

I remember one morning, I'm so lazy to go to school, I soaked my clothes under a hot shower at the bathroom, and put it on my neck, then told her I'm sick, when she check up my body temperature by touching my neck she freak out and told me to rest. And I'm happily, crawling back to my bed room, and hid myself under the blanket, and sleep with a big smile.

I told her later on, and she's quite annoyed on how I tricked her back-then, but we end up having a good laugh together

A Filipino fast food place is opening up sometime next year here and my Filipina friend wants me to try it out. I looked at their Canadian menu and the pictures don't look... appetizing.

I might try their chicken joy, which is called jolly chicken here. It's fried chicken, rice, and what appears to be gravy. Most fried chicken that isn't KFC is just disappointing, but maybe an East Asian approach will be different.

If I imagine Filipino food is similar to Indonesian food (or Melayu cuisine in general) the amount of spices and how it mixed may not really look nice and clean, however the taste can be miles better than it looks.

This might not look pretty, but rendang is delicious:

It's Jollibee.

Here is the Canadian menu: http://jollibeecanada.com/menu/

It's unimpressive to me, as far as fast food goes. But my friend really likes it, so maybe it's one of those "simple yet refined" kinda deals.

That rendang looks like brownie.

@Synsensa It looks like any other fried chicken to me bro, you gotta put your fangs deep into it in order for better quality control.

That rendang looks like brownie.

It's very hard and take a long process cook and able to withstand for a long time period, my mother used to make and sell this to a lot of people (she even have to limit the order because it can be too much) as this is originated from our tribe specifically (Minangkabau) surprisingly @yung.carl.jung knew about Rendang.

It's meat that is cooked with other spices like ginger, turmeric, chilly andddddddd

Spoiler :
coconut

You say it's meant to last for a long time and that it's very hard. Like a more flavorful/edible pemmican?

Like a more flavorful/edible pemmican

This is the first time I heard that cuisine, it actually look very much similar with Rendang, however Rendang is a heavy food with a lot of gravy (?), a cuisine that you eat together with rice.

It's also relatively a hot food (but not for me, I'm too accustomed with hot food that I can't consider Rendang to be hot anymore) I remember once my aunty host a Dutch guest in her house and invite him to eat lunch with us and Rendang was the main dishes, and their face turned red because of how hot it is, but they finish all of it and like it quite much, even though they were sweat a lot.
