I couldn't find it through a search.

After a city is conquered and occupied, is it possible to raze it on later turns?

For example, if I'm abandoning a particular area during war and do not want to give the city to another civ, I'd like to raze it.

However, I have learned that by giving it away, all units in the city (unless there is just one) is transported to the capital.

Even though, logically, you should be able to raze any city your troops occupy, you can't. You have to choose to raze or not when you first capture.

To get rid of a city you already own, you have to get it down to size 2 and build a settler (or size 1 and build a worker).

Indeed logic plays a very LIMITED role in Civ III.

If you do raze a town/city, be sure you have a settler ready to reoccupy it - because every other civ will instantly send a settler of their own to the site of that city. (That cheaing AI again!).

actually, you can use this to a huge advantage. Build workers/settlers until it is size three. Make sure it can't grow, then build two settler units. The first reduces it to size 1, and the second time you still get a settler even with only one population point.

yea :s culturly, civ3 really does favour the butcher warmonger, sure u could have a big phat culture and garison large forces in the new cities to prevent a flip, or u could just raze the city as u take it, and move your forces forward to kill more baddies, make a settler and do it that way. i have had wars where i only have the same culture as the baddie take some citys and have to use your entire armys just to stop flips, u are still labeled a warmonger and u only have a few new citys that will still be able to flip 1000 years time if u didnt wipe out the civ in the first place, or u could raze everything and butcher everyone (and there dogs ;)) and set up your own racialy pure citys that will never flip and u still have a huge army to roll forward, AND u will have so many workers that u dont have to pay for

and how do u disband citys? everytime i make a settler when a city is only size 2 it just stops the production untill the city is size 3 to make the settler

PS oh yea ... im no facist or nothing ... but racially pure citys are worth so much more to u, u KNOW they will never flip and if the baddies take it, there is more chance it will flip on them (unless they are the same ruthless bastard i am ;)) .... (well it is possable for the city to flip but it is expedentially harder!!)

i once had a city near the front line (not on it, but a 1 city behind the front lines so there wasnt even an enemy border near it!) that i built with my settler .... it got to size 4 or so .... i added a baddie worker to it (dont know why ... but im sure it was a good idea at the time  ) and it flipped on me a while later when i was at war, so now the only workers i add to a city are ones from an extinct civ or my own, and i dont think this makes for a fun game :s

I kind of do the same thing. I raze all enemy cities I capture. I settle that land with my own settlers. Use enemy workers I captured to populate the city (I always have to many workers anyway) .. etc. etc. etc.
