RB-31: Playing God

Since Novo is our highest hammer site, could we fit Ironworks into there before the UN build comes up? :confused: Maybe buy a portion of Ironworks if need be to make the timeline work.

Sweet :D . I've got the save and will play/post tonight.

1802 (1): It looks like Peter and Louis are each down to their last city. Let's take a look:

This island holds seven cities - 3 are Christian (none owned by us ATM). We have 4 cavalry stationed to the southwest of Yaroslav and since Peter's not going to play nice with us and grant us OB, it's time to take him out.

1804 (2): Louis and Hattie make peace. She's actually pleased with him now! :confused: Quite a fickle leader she is. I move my cavalry towards Yaro and see it is fortified with 4 longbowmen, a swordsman and a spearman. Avignon only has 2 longbowmen, so I bypass Yaro for now and move the cav to the last French city to get it before Caeser does. Back in the home front I continue to take advantage of our US and rush a Jewish temple in Orleans and a Christian temple in Tours.

1806 (3): Cyrus presents an interesting little deal:

I decide to take the deal. Biology, as KMad posted earlier, is an expensive tech and since Cyrus is throwing a little cash our way too, I couldn't see turning it down. With Biology, our cities should really start to grow. Since we will have Electricity in 1 more turn, I'm confident we'll get to MM before Cyrus aven if he beelines to it (which he might not). I continue establishing culture buildings in our new border cities, rushing a library in Tours. Besancon, our little island city in the South, comes out of anarchy just as I get a Christian missionary there:

Then all of a sudden:

Wow. Didn't even see that city at first. Looks like I saved our galleon another trip out this way! God, what a crappy city site! :lol: I rush a theater in Besancon.

Meanwhile, in Avignon, I lose a cav to a longbowman at 85% odds :mad: , but the city's defeat is inevitable:

Au Revoir, Louis. :p I move two cav toward Yaroslavl and have sent 2 galleons back to the mainland to pick up reinforcements and missionaries.

1808 (4): Electricity discovered. Radio in 9 turns. Oh hey KMad...look who has piggies!

Pork...it's what's for dinner. :p I continue building culture junk and rushing them whenever I can. Novgorod starts working on the Ironworks and I tweak the city so it's working as many hammers as possible. Cities that have nothing to really build I start them working on research just to speed up getting to MM.

1810 (5) & 1812 (6): More of the same. :coffee:

1814 (7): Reinforcements have made it to Yaro and I have it down to the last defender.

1816 (8): Do Svidaniya, Peter. :D

I immediately convert Yaro to Christianity with a missionary I brought with the reinforcements. I continue spreading the faith. I have one on its way to Essen and another to Mycenian in the Northeast island. I switch from US back to representation -- Radio now due in 2 turns.

1818 (9): Mycenian converted. :bowdown:

1820 (10): Radio founded. MM in 3 turns. Essen converted! :clap: Ironworks in 9 turns in Novgorod. Rheims has a christian missionary who just reached the city, so the next player will be converting it. After that, I believe the only city left to convert is Giza! :D

Most excellent!! Louis and Peter dead. :banana:

Variant win is almost at hand. :woohoo:

This is "got it", unless Clovis is now available. How about it oh Creator? :dunno:

sweet!!!!!!

"I decide to take the deal. Biology, as KMad posted earlier, is an expensive tech and since Cyrus is throwing a little cash our way too, I couldn't see turning it down. definitely good call. if his cities are growing faster, ours should be too. and if he builds the UN for us, that'd really be the best thing possible. since then if for whatever reason JC or hatty gets more population than cyrus has, cyrus would *still* be our guaranteed opponent since we're #1 in pop :lol:. but he won't build it first. only gandhi/asoka/mansa like to zoom to it as far as i've seen.

"Wow. Didn't even see that city at first. Looks like I saved our galleon another trip out this way! God, what a crappy city site!"

oh man they sure do go for any legal spot they can find! there's oil there but i don't remember if work boats can even got thru ice on diagonals like that? in any case, cyrus, the game isn't going to last long enough for oil to matter, trust me!

"Oh hey KMad...look who has piggies! Pork...it's what's for dinner."

yay!!!! i got pigs, i got pigs, i got allllllllll pigs!" wait that's not how it goes is it? anyway, told ya so! *giggle*.

Good stuff! I definitely was all for the Biology decision too. This thing's almost over... Glad we caught that break with Sardis, had no idea it existed... Either Dawn or Clovis is up, depending on if Clovis can play...

IHT) 1820AD
- In the interest of getting a high poplulation to help with the upcoming UN vote, I fire a number of specialists and put them to work farming or fishing. This will give us a lot of population growths over the next 4-6 turns instead of 12-26 turns.
- Marseilles: switch to a christian temple instead of the cathedral.

1) 1822 AD
- St Pete: Galleon (?) -> Eiffel Tower
- Spread Christianity to Rheims. One to go! :bowdown:

2) 1824AD
- Paris: christian missionary -> university

3) 1826AD
- Mass Media is in! Start on Steam.
- Lyons: Observatory -> harbor
- Revolt to US to buy new buildings
- Paris: buy university
- Marseilles: buy christian temple
- Drop research to 0%

4) 1828AD
- Hatty comes to us with this offer and I accept (she's so cute!).

- Giza converts to Christianity and that's it for our first Variant Win!!!
:jesus: :dance: :band:

5) 1830AD
- GE born in Jerusalem! :eek: Can you believe the luck?? He heads for Novo to help out with the UN.
- Novo: Buy the rest of Ironworks (1002 gold). UN shows as 21 turns. :nono:
- Leave research at 0% to help purchase UN.

6) 1832AD
- JC offers a Defensive Pact. Sure buddy! Puts us at -1 with Hatty, but we can afford that. Maybe she will do the same? :dunno:
- Paris: christian temple -> jewish temple (I tried to stay true to the variant by building our religious one first)
- Yaro: theatre -> library
- Novo: Ironworks -> UN. UN due in 13 turns, but wait, we have a GE. :hammer: UN now due in 2 turns or 1680 gold.
- Research bumped up to 70% after ensuring we have the $$ for UN.

7) 1834AD
- Hatty comes wanting a Defensive Pact too!! I am not making this up! Anything for her. Now we have a -2 with Freddie, but no "-" with JC or Hatty. Cool.
- New Rostov: observatory -> bank
- Novo: UN costs 312 gold so it is rushed!
- Research to 90%

8) 1836AD

- Novo: Starts Rock n Roll
- Paris: jewish temple -> Globe Theatre
- Coal already mined south of Hebron (how did that get mined?)
- Orleans grabs the gems from Cyrus! :banana:
- Cancel gems for fur deal with Cyrus.
- Moscow: settler for new location up near Cyrus.
- Offer defensive pact with Freddie. Oh yeah, he agrees. No negatives now with any of our allies.
- Do some archer/longbow upgrades to riflemen

9) 1838AD
- Moscow: rush the settler last turn so now build a rifleman for defense
- Elephantine: Cathedral -> christian missionary (for new city)
- UN vote for Gen/Sec: 240 votes required and we have 236.

10) 1840AD
- Yeah, we got the Gen/Sec nod from the rest of the world. :rockon:
- UN vote = 484 votes for us (Us (237), Hatty (95), JC (93), and Freddie (59)). Oh yeah, Cyrus had 118. :nya:
- Gaza: market -> bank
- Tours: hindu temple -> granary
- Rheims: christ temple -> hindu temple
- Drop research to upgrade troops. JC has skyrocketed up in power and we need to maintain that defensive pact.

Here was the save at this point in the game. However, I was bad and decided to finish this one off. :satan:

- Elephantine: christ missionary -> courthouse
- Lyons: library -> university
- Yaro: library -> lighthouse
- Cyrus gets a Great Artist [pissed] What city is he going to bomb now?

12) 1884AD
- Bethleham founded north of Novo on the lake. Doesn't take the rice from Cyrus, yet. Spread Christianity to it (keep the Variant victory :cooool: )

- Rheims: hindu temple -> granary
- Bethleham: theatre -> christ temple. Doing 32 culture/turn.
- All archers are now rifleman.
- UN Diplo vote: Requires 377 votes and we have 243. So we cast our vote and sit back and wait.......:shifty:

14) 1848AD
- Railroad comes in.......
- And so does the UN vote:

:beer: [party]

Here is the game save for 1886AD. Simply load it, hit <enter> and watch.

Well done, Dawn! :goodjob:

Can't believe the luck of getting a Great Engineer at the end just in time to rush the UN :D . Maybe it was sent by a higher power? :mischief:

It's been a lot of fun and a learning experience. Enjoyed your novels, KMad! You must drop all of us a line when your book gets published. :lol:

:dance: :high5:

Great turns, Dawn.

Thanks to all the members of the team for a very fun game. This was my first game of Civ IV in 6 months and I had a great time!
I don't have a lot of time to play games but if you organise another SG, let me know!

:cheers:

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yay!!

I don't know if any of you noticed, but did you see, that when Louis and Peter were dead all of the world's civs were christian. Oh yeah!

So you accomplished the variant victory and the game victory!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Too bad I never got back in, but I was perfectly happy to watch. Good job team!
