This is a succession game affiliated with Realms Beyond Civilization.

Civ: Saladin-Spiritual/Philosophical
Map: Standard Pangaea, High water level, random coastline, temperate climate.
Other: Noble difficulty, Normal speed.
Opponents: Six pre-chosen (Cyrus, Hatshepsut, Caesar, Frederick, Peter, Louis)

Variant rules:

1. We must found both Judaism and Christianity.
2. We must convert to Christianity in 0 AD or if we haven't founded it by then, as soon as we found it.
3. As Jews, we can only convert our own cities to Judaism.
4. As Christians, our primary goal will be to spread Christianity to every single city on the globe. We will consider it a win if every civ converts to Christianity .
5. If possible, we must build the Temple of Solomon and the Church of the Nativity.
6. Victory options will be culture and diplomacy, with diplomacy prioritized.
All victory options are enabled.
War is allowed, either to take the "Promised Land," or to conquer the "Holy Land." :hammer:

Expansion will be our priority during the B.C. years, conversion will be our priority after 0 A.D.

Roster:
Clovis-30 turns
Dawn-20 turns
Scooter-20 turns
Berrie-15 turns
Mrwhite89-10 turns
and then 10 turns each from there.

To build those Religious temples we're going to need some GPs - Stonehenge as a starting wonder?

4000 BC- found Jerusalem on starting tile.

Research goes immediately towards monotheism. Jerusalem starts a worker.

3680 BC, Masonry comes in, I go to Agriculture to hook up corn.

3600 BC we meet Frederick, the villagers give us a scout.

3520 BC we meet Peter.

3400 BC Buddhism FIDL
Jerusalem Worker->Warrior

3360 BC Agriculture to Polytheism

3000 BC Jerusalem Warrior->Warrior I figure we send a settler out with last warrior.

2960 Hinduism founded in Jerusalem, it's nothing but superstition. We begin research on Monotheism.

2880 BC we meet Hatshepsut

2800 BC overview:

The settler in production should go down by the marble, I think.

After Monotheism we should go to Hunting-Archery-Pottery. Hunting will allow us to hook up elephants. After a couple archers I think we should make a run at stonehenge. If not that, perhaps the Oracle later on. And remember, all cities must be Jewish!

Oh, and one more thing: NEVER name a city Mecca! Find a map of Biblical Israel and pick names off of it.

I concur. Stonehenge is an easy way to get those GP points and it will help us expand in the BC years (popping cultural borders).

A little question about the starting position: it looks like there is water to the right and top left or are my eyes deceiving me?

EDIT: Crosspost. Nevermind that last question

Nice starting location.

For now, I would say second city near the marble as you suggested...

Beelining for the religion techs will put us behind in discovering copper and iron and in production techs. But I guess that's not really a problem on noble difficulty

Posting an "I got it"!

So objectives are:
1. Finish settler and head towards marble (catching crabs and deer if possible).
2. Continue towards Mono for our first religion.

Checking in......

It might be a good idea to time the founding of Judaism with the settlement of our second city. By founding it in city #2, we will get free cullture and help it grow faster.

Since city #2 will have marble in its cross, it will be a good spot for the Oracle.
After finishing the settler, Jerusalem should build another warrior then start on Stonehenge. Perhaps a detour to bronze working for a wood-chop to quicken getting it? :D

Ok, checking in (I'm scooter on RB forums for those who don't know), I just popped open the save, and everything looks pretty good. I agree on city site #2 (the marble will make the oracle even easier). Looking at the map I was thinking the third one maybe on that small passageway towards hatty, to keep her from expanding south into our territory. Stonehenge is more important though IMO, we need all the great prophet points we can get (ideally one to pop theology, and at least two more to build the shrines). To speed things up even further, we could easily support priest specialist (once we get some temples in) because we have corn and floodplains. Since it's only Noble, we could probably slip in stonehenge pre-archers, just grabbing one more warrior first (unless we have raging barbs on which I don't think is the case, are they even on?). Only reason I think we should push it is because we do have an industrious civ in the game (although once again this is Noble so we've got more time than I'm used to). Okay, hopefully all that mess made sense... what's everyone's thoughts?

One note to lurkers, none of us has every played a succession game before, so I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say we're definitely open to input.

Edit: crosspost

I like that, if possible it would definitely be nice, no civs started the game with mysticism so we should have time.

Since city #2 will have marble in its cross, it will be a good spot for the Oracle.

Only potential snag with that is that it takes away 2 great prophet points from Jerusalem (meaning it takes longer to found christianity). I don't know, it could go either way on this one, as it would eliminate the risk of missing oracle completely...

Definitely agreed on the build order. I also think mining + bronze working is more important than archery + pottery, mainly because mining lets us hook up the gold (also giving a high production tile because it's a plains hill), and bronze working will let us put a forest chop towards stonehenge if it's needed (or saved for oracle if bronze working comes in late).

Finished playing and will get the posting up shortly.
Quickly:
2nd city founded near marble and crabs.
Judaism founding in Jerusalem.
Got mining completed but started on Pottery. Can be changed as only two turns there.

2760 - Built a farm next to the phants as we don't have the ability to camp them yet. Since we're not a financial civ, maybe a specialist economy?
2720 - Continue scouting around Hatty.
- Move a warrior out of Jerusalem to continue scouting the East.
2680 - borders pop for us
2600 - more scouting
2560 - and more scouting
2520 - Montheism founded with Judaism in our capital. Go ahead and switch over to that religion. :religion:
- Start research on Hunting for the ivory
- Find Freddie's home to the north of us.
2480 - scouting and road work on phants
2440 - scouting
2400 - settler finishes and heads south.
- start on Stonehenge
2360 - scouting
2320 - Hunting --> Archery
- Jerusalem grows to size 4. MM a little to get SH faster.
- Start camping the phants
2280 - Freddie adopts Slavery.
- Tyre founded. Wil get marble, deer, and crabs. Starts on obelisk.
- Remember to switch to Organized Religion. :smoke:
2200 - more scouting
2160 - Ivory connected.
- Jerusalem now at size 5.
2120 - Archery --> Mining (hook up gold and head towards Bronze working).
2080 - Meet Cyrus (first in points) off in the East.
2000 - JC finds us near Cyrus. He next to last in the points.
- Freddied traps the scout with his 2nd city!
1960 - Tacitus says we are just mediocre. Being the good Jewish citizens we are, we forgive him and send him on his way.
- Mining --> Pottery (can be changed if needed)
1920 - Jerusalem grows to size 6
- Stonehenge now down to 7 turns
1800 - zzzz

Feel free to change out Pottery for Bronze Working if needed. We need to pickup BW and Priesthood to continue towards Theology.

Maybe grab use the GP's to lightbulb Theology? Oracle in Tyre for Civil Service?

Dawn, what mod is it that shows the "Jerusalem will grow to size six on the next turn" message?

By the way, if you use the little red arrow in the line of tools above where you type, you can upload your screenshot and then put the link it provides you in between IMG tags so that the picture will appear full-size.

Since we're not a financial civ, maybe a specialist economy?

I think we should at least cottage our floodplains and grasslands. I'm not very familiar with a scientist research economy myself, how exactly does it work?

Dawn, what mod is it that shows the "Jerusalem will grow to size six on the next turn" message?

I think it's the Hall of Fame Mod, but there are others that will give you a head's up the turn before your city grows or becomes unhappy/unhealthy.

I think we should at least cottage our floodplains and grasslands. I'm not very familiar with a scientist research economy myself, how exactly does it work?

By farming the flood plains, we can take all that extra food and run a bunch of specialists, thus turning Jerusalem into a Great Person farm.

That sounds like a good idea. I guess I've never really learned how to use specialists to good effect before.

Clovis -- How did you include the autolog into a spoiler in your post?

I'm using Ruff_Hi's mod (have to remember to turn it off when doing RB events though).

I'm playing around on some single games with the SE versus the CE. SE requires more MM than I'm used to.

@Dawn. You must have a newer or older version of his mod than I do, because mine doesn't do that.

@mrwhite. Do you mean how do I put the autolog in a spoiler or how do I autolog? To attach spoiler tags, you just hit the button that says "spoil" in the row of buttons above the text when you edit your post. Then you past whatever text you want in it between the [][/] tags. To do the actual log, I run Ruff's SG modpack, and turn on the autologger with Alt-L.
