Re: Carriers

Know of anybody that would want to make a Japanese WWII carrier?
Also, I think the larger ones (Hiryu, Soryu, Shokaku class) were about the same size as the old Yorktown class, but I haven't looked up their speed or plane carrying capacity.
In a WWII mod, especially a Pacific war mod, smaller "auxilary" carriers probably should be included. The Japanese built more of these than the big carriers (quicker, cheaper to build) and the U.S. built them too.
One thing I haven't seen personally is Dive bombers and Torpedo bombers for CIV. How would you simulate it? Dive bombers were harder to hit by AA and by fighters, (altutude and speed) and would more likely score a hit. But a torpedo hit would more likely actually SINK a ship. I'm not sure you could simulate it in CIV. But it would be cool. What do you think, AOW?

Lets see, uh, *flips through WARSHIPS: FROM 1860-Present book* Soryu was 746.5 feet long and had 63 aircraft.
The rest had 72 aircraft.

And, yes, we'd need some escort carriers, Independence class, Kaiyo, Shinano, and Shinyo.

Yorktowns were 824.8 ft and 96 planes or various types, i.e. fighters, dive bombers, torpedo bombers. . .

If there was a way to take the submarine attack and put it to a plane hovering low and dropping a torpedo. . .I'm not good at unit making, I have no resources!

I would like to see a WW2 Ark Royal, though. :)
