I was a bit surprised that when one my cities got the majority religion of Islam that I could have the benefits of the reformation belief of Islam, too: +2 tourism per building bought by faith. I had myself founded Taoism and my reformation belief is that I can buy any GP by faith. So now I am a bit reluctant to spread my religion. Because I don't want the AI to be able to buy any GP as well.

I could even choose to buy Cathedrals and Pagoda's (part of Taoism) and then switch to Islam and buy Mosques and get a whopping +6 tourism per city...

But then I would loose the ability to buy GP's. So maybe leave one city Taoist?

Any advice?

I say take off and nuke the site from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.

I think it's a good feature, and one that makes it viable to have a foreign majority religion.

As for the OP's scenario, keeping one city (that isn't massively touristy) Taoist for the purposes of GP seems like the best idea, while having your cultural centres converting to Islam.
