Religion Disassembled?

Does anyone know where I could find some reliable and accurate information for how the underlying mechanics of Religion work? ie. religious influence, missionary conversions etc.

maybe something like Deranged Ducks Culture Mechanics Disassembled?

since it also got me curious to know if there were any sort of relationship between spread of culture and spread of religion fx. when trying to culture flip an opposing city would influencing a conversion to your state religion in that city help the flip? or are these two things completely independent from one another?
