I felt insulted when I first saw the lightning bolts. I dont think it has a place in Civ. I LOVE the idea of them throwing books though.

As for the mechanic... I'll pass judgement when I play it.

I don't know whether you can close borders to apostles or what mechanisms you have to prevent conversion. If there is none, then I have a big issue with the whole mechanism. Otherwise, I think it needs playing to find out whether it's fun or not. A priori I do'nt like much the idea of having yet another layer of combat units on the map.

Well, real bullets or swords don't create "comics style blams" when they hit an opponent either. All the graphics are cartoony and stylized. The lightnings aren't worse or better than the rest of the art.
