Hello all - I am hoping since this is the computer forum, there will be some people who know a thing or two about home entertainment systems.

I just got a new blu-ray player (the LG BD300) and so far so good, but when I turn it on using the remote, my Zenith DVD/VHS combo player turns on too. I guess since LG and Zenith are the same company they have used similar remote codes. Needless to say this is really annoying because when I go to turn the DVD/VHS player off using its remote, that will turn off the Blu-ray player too. I have to walk over to the unit and turn whichever one I don't want on by hand.

Is there a way to change the remote code or signal so that this won't happen? Just getting rid of the DVD/VHS player is not an option because my daughter still has lots of VHS tapes she likes to watch. Any ideas?

Find out where the two IR receivers are on each unit. Move them as far apart as possible. Then don't point directly at the unit, but off to the side away from the other unit. Eventually you will find the spot where you can point and use one unit and not affect the other. Had the same thing happen to me when I had two VCRs of the same model, and doing this helped. It was pain, tho.
