Is there an easy way to remove a civilization from a mod or the game in general? Just wanted to know. Thanks.

In CIV4CivilizationInfos the two lines for each civ:

<bPlayable>1</bPlayable>
<bAIPlayable>1</bAIPlayable>

Set them both to 0 and they can't be chosen or played by the AI. I'm pretty sure they also won't show up in the civlopedia either.

I think they will show up in the 'pedia, and once, while playing RevolutionDCM, i had Canada, a civ that was set to be unplayable (because the artfiles were incomplete), was granted independence.

Wow! That easy,huh?

I checked, they don't show up in the civlopedia (sevo-pedia is a different story) which is why the barbarian civ doesn't show up. The only bug I know of about civs turned off showing up is that there's a random chance with the unrestricted leaders option if a colony is founded.

They don't show up in the pedia, only the leaders show up :(.

But i don't want to suggest to remove the leaderheads, this is quite ugly .

What happens if you set the leaders to unplayable also in the CIV4CivilizationInfos file?

<bLeaderAvailability>1</bLeaderAvailability>

to 0.

I don't know, but it doesn't change the civilopedia.

I've looked, how they hide the barbarian leaderhead, but this is done through the globaldefines.xml, trought BARBARIAN_LEADER, and can't contain more than one :(.

If anyone has an other idea...

Thep in the Civpedia; but will they show up as AI characters?

heck, you think removing leaders is a pain. Try removing era's, or swapping resources. Really the whole leaders/civs is pretty basic compared to removing most the other stuff, and is a good place to learn. ACW mod may have removed as much as any, it was a ton of work.

I don't know anything about programming... the only things I have tried is changing civ colors.

Removing eras: Why? I've set all technologies in my mod to one era, so there's no problem :).
Resources: Yes, the plotLSystem.xml...hell. But this .xml doesn't make any problems (okay, no problems you/the user could see), if you rename them.

Changing colors should be no problem, just type in an other colour.

But this has nothing to do with programming ;).

well for one, I removed most of the stuff simply because the download is already huge. If I just commented stuff out, the XML file sizes would be quadruple what they already are. Not to mention, I don't want the civlopedia for a very specialized mod - american civil war, to have stuff in it such as pedia entries for zulu or for asoka. Just trying to keep things as small as possible and as organized as possible when the download is already 180mb.

also i suppose it could have just went industrial --> modern --> future but really in an american civil war mod there was no modern era... only past, present, and future... Plus if you didn't know, era's actually do effect certain things, other than graphics and music.
