I've been removing alot of the unused programs in my computer today, and for some strange reason... when I click on the remove button on the program I want to uninstall, and pops up an error (Normally "Can not find the installation log for the program").

Anybody better with computers know what this means? And how I can get rid of the program?

Also, the few I am trying to remove does not have a CD, so that's not the problem.

Usually this error crops up when the program is either incorrectly installed (a lot of copied/illegal software gives this error 'or so I'm told' - usually because there are missing registry entries) or if the uninstall files are missing or corrupt.

The only way to delete the program correctly is the manually delete the folders/files for the program - unfortunately this often leaves the entry for the program in the 'add or remove programs' list - the only real way to remove it from there is to edit the references for the program out of the registry - either manually or using a reg cleaning utility.

Yep, but don't mess with the registry if you don't know what you're doing.

How about this problem? I suddenly had problems loading saved games into C3C. I was getting a DATAIO: GAMES error. So after much troubleshooting like restarting the computer, cleaning the disk... simple stuff. I decided to uninstall then reinstall C3C. Once it was uninstalled, I still had it in the "Remove Programs" section of Control Panel. Now when I try to install it, it goes to the WINNT folder instead of the Infogames folder where Civ III is located. What have I done wrong?

Note: I have one of the original C3C disks that requires a patch to 1.22.

To kill those bad entries in the Add/Remove - download Add/Remove Pro. Great little tool that cleaned my mom's Windows 98 Add/Remove programs window - which was cluttered with already uninstalled programs.
