Replacement needed for Realms Beyond Pitboss game

Hi!

We over at Realms Beyond! have been playing an 11-civ Pitboss game with 18 hour turns. We're playing on a custom map created by Sullla, and are about 100 turns in on Normal Speed.

ZPV, one of our players, recently ceased communication. Though we're anxious to hear that he is OK, we also need a substitute to take over until if/when ZPV returns. If ZPV does return you would then be welcome to continue playing as his teamate (our 11 civs are controlled by 1-2 players each).

Each civ has their own thread over at RB. All of the RB regulars are either playing the game or thoroughly spoilered, but if you're reading this and not, please come on over!

However, I'm walking out the door for work, and this is my longest shift of the week (12hrs)

Attempted to register on your main site, however, there is no Captcha phrase visible on the form (despite a box to input it), so I'm stuck.

Edit, I didn't actually look for the game version. BTS 3.19, correct? If it's any older version, I may have a problem. (Mods are fine though)

Yes, the game is 3.19 with no mods. I will try to figure out what the issue is with registration over at the RB forum.

Ok, I'm going to boot ZPV from the Pitboss game in a few hours. That should allow you to register and pick your own password (I think - we've never had to do this before).

The address of the game is sunrise089.gotdns.com:2061. Do you need more detailed instructions about how to get the Pitboss up and running on your end? Also, once you've had a chance to log in, can we please get your email address? There is quite a bit of out-of-game chatter that you won't want to miss out on

Of, ZPV has been booted. Please let us know when you're able to log in Elkad. The game is currently paused and you have a diplo screen up, so you won't be able to un-pause it yourself. Once you confirm you have access we'll probably need to coordinate a time to unpause for you.

Uh, washington of carthage isn't on the list..

I figured maybe kicking to AI would clear the diplo screen, but the civ isn't even there.

You could scroll through the list and look for the picture of Washington to show up. Alot of us had changed the names of the Civ's.

Just tried to get in to confirm ZPV's civ,but the game appears to be down.

@Elkad: we're not playing with duplicates, so whichever civ has Washington's leaderhead is the one you want.

Weird that the game is down (would be the first time since I switched to a dynamic DNS), but I'll check on it. I will also check on Take Over AI. That setting means that a player can bump an AI, right?

Correct. If the option wasn't checked, the only way to take over the civ is to know the password.

(Well, you can login to any civ with the Admin password, but that sets the password to the Admin one, and still can't be changed. Which is actually worse.)

Can you turn on the setting by manually editing a line of code? If not, can you do it via Worldbuilder?

Worldbuilder won't work. I think the latest save might have to be given to a third party (Sullla) who uses the admin password to log in as ZPV and then alters the password to something else, and returns the new save to sunrise, but I'm n9ot sure if that'll work.

Unfortunately I don't think that will work. Changing the password in pitboss games (via My Details in the in-game options menu) doesn't actually seem to do anything...

If you didn't have 'take over AI' checked from the very beginning, I think you're stuck. Only options are trusting Elkad with the admin password (which, knowing Elkad, is what I would do actually), or see if you can find out ZPV's original password from him somehow...

Well, we got that issue sorted out, however, I'm now having connection issues with the game, and everyone has agreed that I should be replaced so that the game should continue.

If anyone wants the take over, you'll be playing Joao of the Incans, with about 50% more cities than anyone else, a solid GNP and by far the highest crop yield, and one of, if not the, strongest armies. 1 Successful war completed (well, people will argue about that but I considered it successful) and a decent amount of land to expand into. I'd rate it as the strongest position in the game.

I'm willing to stay on as an advisor for any player that wants it, or to stop playing completely to give the new guy a free run. Either way I can give a detailed handover.

If anyone wants to take over, pm me here and I'll respond to any questions asap.
