Ok, I'll bite.
Dear Fireaxis:
I am a new player to your Civilization III game. I had no problems with the installation or initial run of the game. 10 points for that! However, I have never finished a game.
My game stats: Monarch, Huge Map, 16 civs.
My problem is that just around the end of the medieval age the game already feels like it wants to crash. By the start to middle of the industrial age, the game has crashed!
I hit the end turn button, and I just wait and wait. It seems to just crash at this stage. I have tried my celeron 333 128K with ATI Rage card and, and also my Intel 1.3 500K with GEForce card. It seems to take longer to crash with my Intel, but it still crashes.
Once, I think it was coincidence though, when I thought it crashed, it started again. I hit end turn, and it stopped. In frustration, I went to have a shower and forgot to restart. When I came back it was the next turn. I thought. Wow!
But when I hit end turn, it crashed! It just stopped doing anything. So, again, I hit the window key and went to Task Manager and selected End Program.
Funny thing is that the Task Manager said the game was still running. But it wasn't. I am aware of the inherent feature of windows to suddenly doze off, but I waited for minutes and still nothing happened.
I am not very computer knowing, but I have never encountered such a problem before on both computers. Could you please fix this on the next patch so that I can finish a game? Please?
