Why isn't it possible to report oneself ?

It is obvious that ppl wont report themselves to "report" smthing wrong.
It would be usefull when you want your thread closed, the poll changed a bit, a thread title change or smthing like (a typo maybe). Things like this. I don't like sending more "I am not reporting this user, the reason is ...".

Sure, i can PM a mod to change those things, but i say PM is way to official for such worldly things. :) And besides, if i report myself, then whichever mod would be in the mood to do what i asked would do it... if i PM then that specific mod would have to do it; and since most of the mods are invisible i might PM a mod that is on the oposet time period, so i would have to wait 8 hours for the change...

Note: i am not complaining about anything, all the stuff up there are just some assumed situations (the second part) ...

Would be nice to 'self-report' n-tuple posts or duplicate threads.

Indeed.

And on PM'ing mods to close some thread, etc. You can pm to about five people at one given time, so even though it would not be as quick as reporting yourself, you don't have to pm one mod at a time, but do the pm'ing in set's of five.

you could report the post below you and give a reason for why, that way would bring the thread to the attention of a mod.

I also think you should be able to report yourself, especially for double posts. And while looking at the opening post I wondered how the report button is there, forgetting that it is not my post :crazyeye:

But, like i said, it would be simpler and more elegant to report my own posts in such cases.

Yea, maybe it's not that hard to do ... there would be only to gain from this :).
We should wait for an Official response now. ;)

i back this.

Ditto on this, Its just too much of a pain to PM all the Mods in there respective forum that they mod in to ask them to eliminate double, tripple, or quad posts that normaly happens when a forum/internet glitch happens.

Some things to know about reporting.

The moderators that are assigned to the forum where the post is reported in, get an email. For me that means that I can only see reports when I actively search for them.
That means that reporting is neither quick, nor for unimportant things like "double posts" / poll changes / etc. As I see it reporting a bad post is for when someone posts a spam-thread; a bad flame/troll; other stuff that need a serious moderator action, but can wait a couple of hours.

In case of something that needs to be done now like a forum attack, a porn-link etc. Send a PM to the moderators. 1 will see it quickly enough to take action. And if you know the location of the moderators on the planet then you can pick the correct Mods to PM.

In case of double posts; poll changes etc. simply edit your post and when it is spotted it will be done.

For specific fora there are so called "needed things" threads that are specifically created for non-important moderator actions as closures, post deletion, poll-updates etc. The fora that don't have those, don't need those.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer. :)

You used to be able to report yourself. I think it was taken out when we upgraded to 3.0. Whether or not it can be put back in, I don't know. I'm sure TF knows....

Isn't that list just showing who the moderators in that forum are? The same names is always there, maybe they never log out?

That's not too helpfull ... he meant the invisible (majority of) mods. (i think)
