Im making a scenario where the younger dryas impact event didnt occur and mammoths were not made extint, civilization evolved with some using them in a similar way as war elephants, just bigger ;)

So Im requesting a Mammoth with riders using bows or javelins. For inspiration you can think of the Lord of the Rings Oliphants :)
For the sake of culture specific units, I would like to have at least an amerindian version, a nordic (norse/germanic/viking) version, a steppes (scythia/hun/mongol) version and possibly an oriental (chinese/korean).

I would also like a mammoth unit without riders, so it can be used as a "barbarian" animal unit, for hunting ;)

Here's a pic:

Are those orcs? Isnt that the mark of chaos? :)
Yup, its a Chaos Marauder War Mammoth Motherf.. erm.. bad thingy!
and here I thought it was Asuras sporting the Wheel of the Law as their emblem.

I know that there are texture sets for the poser elephant available. A mastodon rider would make sense for Pellucidar in the Steampunk scenarios as well.

EDIT: Don't know suitable it would be for unit making but - Mammoth (model + textures) ($5.99) at Content Paradise.

Well if someone accepts my request in the condition I buy that stuff, I can make payment using paypal. But for the model/textures only, not the actual unit making.

Someone made an atlatl unit not to long ago, not using it yet but i'll re-check it out. As the hunters im thinking about using the basic warrior units, but different cultures could use different units.

Oh yes, im sure I'll have no problems finding the hunter units ;) Its the mammoth im looking for :)

Let me fourth or fifth that request, although regardless of whether a War Mammoth (which would be awesome) is made or not, I would also be grateful if the unit maker made a generic (riderless) mammoth so that I could use it in the prehistoric land of Pellucidar in the Steampunk: Lost Worlds mod (where there is an all-animal civilization)....

:coffee:

Im also aware of that, makes no difference to me, just think it would be cool to have the northern civs use Mammoths while the southern use Elephants.

Yang Liu offered to make it once, but I dont know if he's still thinking of doing it..

That will be a really cool unit, but remember Mammoths were in fact little animals (elephant wise, of course).

??? Okay, here's a mammoth-elephant comparison:

Not little.

Granted, if accurate sizes were an issue, our Civ dinosaurs are just puny little guys compared to, say, a real spinosaurus:

and absurdly small compared to the largest dinosaurs:

Spoiler :
Perhaps, Tom, one day you could up-size our Dinos for us, if you ever get the time. Hard to believe that, except for Supa's movie monsters, no one has ever wanted to make one of the big bad boys above... We don't have any Brontos or water dinos, which is a real loss.

(for a fun look at some other big, bad beasts go >here<)

But I digress: back to the Mastodon. I did a quick search to see if I could find convertible Mammoth or Mastodon units. Here's what I found:

Spoiler :
I think Zoo Tychoon II has one.

The most promising looking one is this "bonus creature" from Microsoft Games' Impossible Creatures >here<

There is a Frostling Mammoth Rider in Age of Wonders II:
Perhaps if the frostling were removed.....
(now, while looking for these, I found an interesting conversation about Gimp for Tom >here< - might be worthless)

There is a Mammoth-tank in Red Alert 3 Xtended, but it too has baggage:

I also found a game-modding forum where someone named Banzai! made a mammoth >here<

This little guy is from Krush, Kill and Destroy.

I seems from some of the posts I saw while looking for these that Mastodon or Mammoth units are as rare elsewhere as they are around here.

Of course you realize that as soon as this is made, someone will start looking for a Sabretooth Tiger....
