Lately, several great add-ons for RoM popped up at this forum, like Fixed Borders and Abandon City, and now this promising one jooyo is showing at other thread. Did you guys notice it? Rise of Mankind is so big, that it has mods! :king:

Some months ago, I asked for a division for the Open Borders agreement . Explaining my reasons again, I hate  to let traitorous dictators and their filthy armies walking across my graceful country just because I want the commercial benefits of the agreement. Besides, a friendly neighbour who wants those same benefits, is obligated to let them pass to attack me, and I have few arguments to stop this. So, what I'm politely asking here is for you guys who know Python, SDK, C++, ancient greek and stuff, to make this add-on. Obviously, if you like the idea and want it in your games. I would greatly appreciate it! :)

My initial idea was like that:

- Open Borders Division:
- Civil Open Borders (Scouts, Workers, Merchants)
- Commercial Open Borders - Trade Routes
- Military Open Borders
The differents levels of these would change the anger caused by spies getting caught.

A guy I don't remember the name (if you're reading this, sorry, I didn't find our posts...) agreed with me but he proposed some slight changes. Like this:

Cross-Border Trade (my "Civil" combined with my "Commercial") -> Open Borders (my "Military") -> Defensive Pact -> Permanent Alliance
Each stage would require the others to be complete.

So, anyone who know programming and is interested in this, feel free to modify our ideas. But, please, please, take out Mansa Musa and Genghis Khan of my land! :crazyeye:

I would also like to see some sort of seperate open border divisions.
I usually dont agree to open borders because I usually box around an area I want to expand to later making it impossible for friends and enemy to bring their filthy settlers over.

I like the idea of different levels of Open Borders, although having to go thru the stages doesnt sound that fun, would you be able to still demand higher levels in one trade negotiation?

I think this would be better suggested elsewhere eg the Mod development forum. I reckon it would be more likely to be taken up there and then it can be merged into RoM and other mods :)

Yup. I'll do it. It's because I only read the forums of RoM and Revolution mod. :)

I like the idea of this change to open borders, however I'm 99% sure this would confuse the heck out of the AI and it would not know how to use it correctly.

This idea is great. I hate those Tokugawa troops wandering through my country to fight with Mayan.
I'm rather "builder player" so I don't have many troops, only "quick reaction forces" to defense my territory against enemy and some assault troops fighting far away from home and supporting my strategic partners.
Variety of open borders would be more realistic.

To OP, This idea sounds great! perfect even! I love it, if I knew anything about modding, I would help! Gimmy four years to finish my computer engineering course and I'll give it a shot.

you actually.... "support" your allies? :shifty:

Having a 'trade agreement' style open borders and a 'military access' style open borders be separate is a good idea. If you separate them, I'd like to see an additional UN resolution to trade embargo a certain nation. Everyone who agrees would instantly cancel their commercial open borders deal with the target nation, while the other open borders deals can stay open.

Sorry I cant help but I would also really like to see this... again, its something pretty obveous that Civ 4 should of shipped with, yet did not.
