I was playing a 3000BC China game. On turn 144, the amount of beakers required to complete "Construction" jumps up from around the 600s to 1800 or so. This affects every tech, meaning techs like Feudalism now cost 3000 research beakers.
Is there any reason why this is happening, or how it can be stopped?

It's a feature. Tech costs vary by your game year - early techs are cheaper so the early game doesn't drag on as much and the tech speed aligns with the game years better.

The turn 144 change is only the most noticeable of them.

Are you sure the tech increase is actually intended to be that big? 3000 research beakers for Feudalism seems a bit much in comparison to other games.

Tech costs also increase when you having a large empire. Upto 8 cities, the costs won't increase. But every city beyond that number will increase the tech costs.

Tech costs also scale depending on the civ you play, and early starters like China have the most expensive techs. I don't have the game files at hand but I could tell you the exact factors later on.

I'm fairly certain this is not a bug.

I have only 3 cities, so I'm certain overexpansion can't be the problem.

Makes sense, Leoreth. Looks like my silly issue has been solved!

Looking upon it, it hasn't been solved...
I am very sure Guilds is not meant to cost around 5000 beakers after turn 144, AKA the same amount of beakers required for Flight. It reminds me of the multiplayer bug which also did this, rendering it unplayable.
I am playing RFC: Civs in Abundance though, but I'm sure that can't be the problem as I doubt the tech tree was meddled with in the making of that. The thread for that seems to be dead though, so I doubt I would've gotten an answer there.

Yeah, that's really too much. I don't know if Jarkov meddled with the tech costs in CiA though.
