Resolution issues

Hey all! New to these forums, but not forums in general! First off I want to say that I have looked on Google, this website, and many others for solutions for my problem but have come up with nothing. With that out of the way, here's my issue:

I recently purchased Civilization 5 vanilla and Gods and Kings on Steam's Daily Deal service for $12.59. When I start up, I choose the DirectX10/11 setting naturally, but when I use the resolution 1366x768 60Hz I get a black bar about an inch wide going down only the right side of my screen. The opening cutscene is fine, that displays in fullscreen but when I get to the main menu, it feels almost as though only the image, or display of the game has shifted an inch to the left. Because I can move the mouse all the way to the right of the screen, and it`s still visible, but now here`s where I get the feeling that the image has shifted, because with my mouse hovering over the black bar I can select things in the image that are about an inch to the left from the mouse pointer, but it also happens when I hover my mouse over the actual image, making it frustrating because when I want to click something I have to move the mouse to the right of it to actually click it, plus there`s an inch cut off the left side of the screen`s image.

I know it sounds small, but it takes a lot out of the experience for me. I`ve tried playing on DirectX9 setting but then the other Civs don`t move at all when I talk to them, which again is very small, but it takes a lot out of the experience.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you for reading!

The only thing I could find in the game options that even remotely sounded like it might be related to your problem was something in the interface options that says "Automatically Size Interface". I guess you could try checking/unchecking that, but I don't know if it would help you or not.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry.

Your solution didn't work, but thanks for the help anyways! I actually managed to find a workaround after trying your idea, for anybody else that might be having the same issue.

I just went into DirectX9 mode, and to make the leaders actually talk you just turn the Leader scene quality to Low instead of Minimum in the Video options. Then the fullscreen works, and the leaders move and talk properly.

Also, you can just go into Windowed mode if you want to use DirectX10&11, choose the resolution so it fits the whole screen but it's still windowed, and then in options set Bind Mouse to Always so you can still move freely around the map by moving the mouse to the side.

Hope this helps somebody, and thank you for the help!

Edit: fixed typo
