I've noticed something with resources. If you have a lot of resources that are available on a certain type of terrain, like Hills, some of them simply won't show up. For example, in addition to the regular resources that come on Hills, I added Rice, Stone, and a 1 or 2 others.

The game still faithfully puts Iron, Coal, etc. on the Hills, but it seems when seeding the map, by the time it gets to the "bottom of the list" of resources it just says, "Ah, heck, that's enough."

I also had Stone available on Plains. Well, tons of Stone show up on plains, none on Hills. Why would that be?

Anyone else have this problem?

Conversely, If you have a resource that only appears on one type of terrain (and there are few resources for that terrain type e.g. Marsh), the computer seeds that terrain with tons of that resource. For example, I added "Water Fowl" to Marsh terrain only. There are TONS of water fowl on every map! It looks kind of cool, but it's a little bit overkill.

I wrote about this in my C3C resource distribution doc. To make a long story short, it's way different than in PTW; Water tiles are favored (they get 3-4 times more resources), while hills suffer. It seems to be ralated to the occurance of a given tile on the map, so you should get more resources on hills if you play on 3 bil. world (seems obvious but it wasn't like that before).

I messed with terrain-resource settings until something edible come out. It seems that if you set only 1 exclusive resource on swamp, you get a lot of them, while if you set 3 different resources (some not exclusive) you will get much less of them in total (so swamps don't look so crowded...)

Thanks for the response, Embryodead. I appreciate it. Just another thing for us to work around. It's too bad that bonus resources do not have an appearance ratio we can set.
