i was looking for a bit of help maybe im doing something wrong considering the game was designed to run on marathon speed, huge world, correct?

anyways, i am running only a large map due to performance issues (3.2 dual core, and 2g ram) and i have 3 games now that i have discovered late in game the absence of resources - salt is usually missing if not then there is one source of it in the world. i had a previous game with only 1 source of sulfur in the world.

i have recently started a new game with resources placed on the balanced option. there is no salt, rock, marble, or the stuff to make aluminum (forget its name), or uranium.

any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

Salt should appear more often on maps in the next patch. What comes to other resources, please post what mapscript type and what settings for it were you using when some resources were completely missing - in these cases I'll have to check mapscripts as some of them need specific settings to which resources they should place to the map.

Zap, will salt appear at sea tiles too?

Since the ocean is salt water, it would be very redundant to have salt deposites on the sea, instead, i think it may be wise to put in a new building that is only buildable if an ocean square is present within the city borders, rather than coastal, then there would be too much salt. The building should have an extremely high maintenance level since it is very expensive to artificially extract the salt from saltwater at such high amounts, and to keep it from rusting etc. Also good to keep the gold flow low if salt is needed :crazyeye:

Resources system in Civ IV has some restrictions, right? :)
Why can't I transport horses or corn to other places? I'm proposing salt in coastal tiles trying to fit in these restrictions, reflecting the "perfect conditions" to the exploration of this resource.

I have the same problem with missing resources. And it's a critical resource that is missing: sulfur. That pretty much ruins the game for me as I'm prevented from using most of the advanced military units as a result.

I'm playing version 2.5 Full.

The map is a custom game.
ROM_Pangaea (which BTW gives me no shoreline.)
Giant Size, Temperate Climate, Standard Resources and a Toroidal World Wrap.
