Is there anyway of calculating the resource patterns in the first few turns of a game so as to make exploration for city sites more effecient?

There are slight differences, but depending on how many huts & specials you can see at the starting point, you can sometimes tell where you are with out moving but it usually takes a move or two to comfirm your position.
