Do you get any credit with an AI civ for returning MORE than one worker??

I don't think so, although it may extend the length of time that you get that diplo bonus from that AI.

I'm pretty sure the deplo points last the whole game,,,,but I'm surprised that more people do not no for sure what the benefits are for freeing like 3 or 4 of another civ's workers????

Negative diplo seems to definitely last most of the game, but minor positive stuff like returning workers, is rather short-term, in my experience. I've never seen returned-worker diplo bonus that lasted all that long. And if you return one worker in the early going, I guarantee you you won't see any 'green' sign of it in when you hover over that civ's indicator by end game. No, I don't know the 'for sure' answer, but I can guarantee you aren't going to be able to count on freeing up a bunch of workers for some civ, and thereby get them to luv you forever. It's certainly never happened for me.

For me I returned a worker very early and had the + modifier for the rest of the game...

Someone posted an excellent overview on the diplomatic impact of the game a few months ago (sorry, don't remember the link).

In it, you get 30 plus points for each worker/settler return and need about 3 workers returned to turn a hostile attitude to friendly. The points last the whole game but you tend to rack up other points over time to offset these. And as you get ahead in the game - or allied yourself with enemies, etc. it will offset these bonuses.

So the short answer is yes, you get a bonus every time you return a worker - and it makes the other player attitude more positive to you.

It was posted on 2k forums. I'll try find that thread.

This would have been easily understood if the game designers simply modified the "green words" to reflect:

"You have returned our captured worker"
"You have returned two of our captured workers".......and so on....

Would that have been so difficult? I always play on "Raging Barbarians" so it comes up in almost every game.

::shrug:: Despite what others relate, I've never ever seen that diplo bonus last through the whole game. As a matter of fact, I've definitely seen it completely disappear from another civ's list of diplo +/- , many times... and definitely not stay anywhere near to the end of the game. That's what I've constantly seen. In the grand diplo scheme, returned workers don't amount to a hill of beans, that's one thing that's for sure.

That's funny? I still see it in the AI diplo screen even if I'm at war and they hate me. It does last the whole game for me as well.....funny??

I have a far simpler policy. I never return them if they belonged to an AI- hey why help them when they will declare war on me (eventually) anyway. If they belong to a CS I generally return them unless I am pretty short of workers. I liberate them not (usually) for good faith, but because often the expense is more than they are worth. So the good faith is a bonus.

Nope, but different than what I see, that's for sure. Perhaps it's because I play on marathon (mostly) and occasionally epic. Perhaps you play on shorter timespans, and it doesn't have the time to wear off that I experience. And I don't spend the whole game looking for captured workers to turn back to their owners, either. I may do some of that in BC, but rarely after.
