[C3C] Revert Conquests Army changes back to Vanilla/PTW - is this possible?

Hi all,

Conquests enhanced the capabilities of the Army unit, adding things like Radar, auto-pillage (which doesn't use up a movement turn), increased healing rates even in enemy territory and +1 movement relative to the slowest unit in the army.

I have played around with the standard editor and aside from the Radar functionality, couldn't see anything else that I might be able to change back to how vanilla/PTW had it. The editor has pillage, but that appears to be an on-off setting. I don't want it to turn off, I just want it to use up a movement point (even though PTW appears like it did not allow pillage).

Am I missing something? Can this be done in the standard Conquests editor? If not, is there another editor that will allow me to make these changes? I'm thinking specifically of Quintullus' editor, but I've never played with it so I'm not familiar with it's capabilities?

If these changes can't be reverted in an editor, then I assume the only way these might be changed is through the same method Flintlock is using with his wonderful patch/mod?

Appreciate any insight provided.

Trent

Sorry. I've tried to do that too. But the auto-pillage, +1 movement and increased healing rate are hardcoded into Conquest. You'd need to ask Flintlock to do his magic. He's managed to revert bombardment targeting back to PTW with his C3X mod/patch.

The best I can do right now is to make armies only have 1 transport slot and 5 extra HPs with pillaging turned off. The AI still wouldn't wanna target it head on but with a bit of chip damage/bombardment armies will get attacked and destroyed. Pillaging is so bonkers that even if it took 1 movement you'd just be able to waltz in and take out all strategic resources. Even in PTW a couple of explorers hiding under the army could do that.

Another possible nerf might be to limit Armies to "Loads only Foot Units", while also ensuring that only your mod's M=1 (and low-D?) units have the "Foot unit" tag (perhaps with exceptions for early UUs such as Jags, Impi and GSwords?). At least that way, an Army wouldn't be able to pillage more than 2 tiles per turn.

Pretty sure you can turn off the Army's Blitz- attack as well -- but not sure if that would prevent multi-tile pillaging(?). And maybe that's a nerf too far anyway...

Thank you! I appreciate the insight and suggestions.

I don't play Civ 3 a lot, so I'm not intimately familiar with its mechanics, although I'm really enjoying my latest game.

I might start a new thread in the general discussions to garner some community feedback on whether armies functioned better in PTW or Conquests. Or perhaps some combination of the two?

Anyhow, thanks again!

You can turn off the Blitz attack as well. An Army or unit can only Blitz up to its movement factor. However, an Army with a movement factor of One can always Blitz once.
