Can someone explain to me the basics of "city revolt management". Does stationing troops help? How many troops for a medium size city? Is there a formula? Thanks.
I'm sure there is a formula, but I don't know it. To my knowledge, stationing troops is the only thing that helps (other than judicious removal of the cultural pressure )
This is how I do it: let's say you have a city with a 6% chance to revolt. Move a stack of 10 into it, and check the revolt chance. If it's not at zero, add more until it is at zero. Viola - no revolting city.
It's usually better to just go capture/raze the city applying the pressure - but if that isn't possible/intelligent, that's my formula - add troops 'til it goes away - then crank culture until you can start pulling troops out.
And of course work on the culture in thet city - you dont your troops to stay there froever - as soon as your culture has the mayority, the revolt will go away. If the cultural pressure is not coming form something really huge (Like wonder rich capital) you should be able to make enought culture with a couple of building and running some Artists.
